Description

The Product Manager, Explosive Detection Systems (EDS) manages an integral part of the Morpho Detection’s product portfolio which safeguards people, places and assets globally.  This position, reporting into the Director, EDS Platforms, drives requirements for new products, customer requests and demonstrates accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives. In this role you will integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organization, be involved in long-term planning, manage complex issues within functional area of expertise, and contribute to the overall business strategy.   The Product Manager will be working with internal and external customers who include but are not limited to domestic and international airports, government agencies, and related industry groups. 

Responsibilities:

  • Act as a liaison between sales, marketing, services and R&D to assist in the creation of product technical specifications. Provide input from all departments to the R&D design team, coordinate design review meetings such that New Product Introductions (NPI) meet sales objectives.
  • Support sales personnel in key situations, providing technical support when necessary
  • Maintain technical content of sales support and sales/distributor training materials
  • Prioritize proposed enhancements and calculate return on investment based upon customer's strategy and direction
  • Drive Cost of Ownership (CoO) initiative’s throughout the business to maximize contribution margin while increasing market share Drive accountability toward achieving schedule, revenue and contribution margin commitments
  • Create Marketing Requirements Document (MRD) and product briefs (product marketing plan and associated financial justifications)
  • Analyze market information to develop product sales plans, including market segmentation, targeting and positioning
  • Analyze customer complaints and lead action teams to resolve.
  • Lead individual projects for new product development and product rationalization initiatives
  • Implement product launches, sales support and product promotions.
  • Identify and communicate voice of the customer and critical customer requirements to the business
  • Build relationships with key decision makers and senior government executives
  • Deliver proposals, presentations, concepts and solutions to identified decision makers and to internal business leaders
  • Work with Government Relations to leverage the governmental processes
  • Interface with Production and Sales team for effective sales forecasts
 
Position Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, engineering or technical field from an accredited university or college
  • At least 5 or more years product management experience 
  • 2 + yrs leadership  experience - leading a project or facilitating a program

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.
  • Must be willing to work out of an office in Newark, CA
  • Must be willing to travel up to 25% of the time, both domestic and internationally.
