SQA Testing Analyst - Policy System 


Description

Overall Responsibility:

The responsibility of the Software Quality Assurance Test Analyst is to work closely with multiple internal and external teams to ensure the quality control of product deliverables to our customers in the commercial property and casualty insurance industry.  This position will involve taking proprietary and third party software builds through functional tests, user interface tests, systems integration and regression tests. Will provide test planning, design, execution and maintenance as well as identify software deficiencies, assist developers to reproduce those deficiencies and track those deficiencies to closure.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for following the Software Quality Assurance methodology for all assignments: 
  • Work closely with the development teams, customers, and Business Analysts to understand business and software design requirements in preparation for test planning, test design, and test execution
  • Authoring test plans and creating test case scenarios around specific software applications and business processes across multiple applications
  • Develop test data to support test cases for system and regression testing
  • Perform system, regression, and end-to-end testing in integrated test environments
  • Execute test cases in a distributed and varied environment including HTML, web services, client/server, and database applications
  • Review and validate that test data and test execution results accurately reflect business requirements as outlined in the requirements specifications
  • Knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and the importance of software testing in delivering quality business solutions to our customers
  • Advocates the QA methodology to internal and external customers
  • Minimum to no travel required
 

Position Requirements

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years in software testing or quality assurance preferred
  • Working knowledge of Software Quality Assurance practices such as managing defects, defining test strategies/plans/cases and the difference between different types of software testing
  • Experience with defect tracking tools and defect workflow
  • Experience with IBM Rational tools such as TestManager, Rational Robot, or Rational Functional Tester preferred
  • Ability to work harmoniously in a team environment as well as independently with minimal direction
  • Knowledge of technical aspects of computer operations and data communications
  • Ability to prioritize work load, work effectively on several projects and concurrent tasks, and be able to meet project deadline

Preferred Experience:

  • Test experience including the use of data driven testing concepts
  • Experience and understanding of test automation concepts
  • Experience in leading project test teams; performing and/or assisting with test planning, test project management and leading test design and execution

Education/Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in the software development, IT, or software testing field
  • ASTQB or other testing certification preferred
  • Understanding of commercial property and casualty insurance industry is preferred
  • Ability to analyze requirements and design specifications in preparation of test cases
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Lotus Notes
  • Ability and willingness to learn quickly
  • Ability to handle new challenges and changes
  • Extremely detail oriented
  • Excellent organizational skills, functional testing skills, planning, and a drive to achieve results on time
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to write routine reports and correspondence for internal and external customer communications
