Description

Summary
The Site Safety & Health Officer is the field lead in assuring all work is performed to all federal, state and local safety laws. The SSHO is responsible for preventing or reducing accidents in the workplace.
Essential functions
• Assist in drafting activity hazard analysis for each element of work
• Outlines all safety procedures for all personnel and preparatory meetings
• Is present and inspects all safety parameters during construction of each element of work and files all inspection reports
• Lead voice on the site for safety concerns
• Completes and files accident reports and deficiency reports
• Conducts daily toolbox safety meetings
• Assists in developing the project Accident Prevention Plan (APP)
• Collects, reviews, and approves all safety procedures for all subcontractors
• Makes sure all Health and Safety postings are posted
• Makes sure that the site construction team follows all federal, state and local safety requirements
Skills and Qualifications
• Ability to address issues with all features of work at the site
• Knowledge of all the necessary coordination to complete project scope
• Good decision maker – desire to make decisions based on compliance, practicality, sound fact and for the benefit of the company
• Ability to work and communicate in a team atmosphere
• Computer Literate including Microsoft Office , USACE RMS, & CMIC
• Knowledge in reading plans and interpreting specifications
• Knowledge in First Aid/CPR, OSHA regulations
• Knowledge and/or Training in Confined Spaces, Rigging, Scaffolding Inspection, Benching and Shoring, Fall Protection and other safety procedures needed to complete the scope of the project.
• Innate desire to bring the client a quality based, fully compliant project.
• General knowledge of the Electrical Code, the International Mechanical Code, Plumbing Code, other Building and Industry Codes and Standards, LEED and Sustainability, etc.

Physical demands :
• Ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs, passenger use of construction personnel hoists, ability to climb ladders and navigate work areas under construction.
• Specific vision abilities include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, sit, talk and hear, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works on-site at the construction work site where the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; exposure to outside weather elements (heat, cold, and dust conditions).
Required / preferred education or experience
• OSHA training (Preferred)
• First Aid/ CPR Certified
• 1 Year SSHO Experience preferred
