We are committed to strengthening connections within our community and building new bridges beyond   Description The Museum Educator is a freelance position. An ideal candidate will be self-sufficient and passionate about art, Japanese culture, and informal education. Educators are expected to lead K-12 schools groups on 1-hour experiences focusing on rotating exhibitions and engage students through storytelling, inquiry, and hands-on activities. Rotating exhibitions run from October to January, and March to June. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Museum Educator responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Participating in paid information sessions regarding seasonal exhibition contents. (Fall & Spring) Creating age appropriate lesson plans for rotating exhibitions for K-12 groups. Researching new content as needed in relation to rotating exhibitions. Preparing art materials, pictures and photographs, and any other materials needed for tour enrichment. Utilizing inquiry-base techniques to engage students from diverse backgrounds on gallery tours. Leading groups safely through a gallery space. Assessing performance and integrate feedback as needed.   Position Requirements Requirements: Background in Education, Art Education or related field. Teaching experience with K-12 students in an informal learning environment. Excellent communications skills in English. Flexible and adaptable to unexpected circumstances. Available for on-call basis during weekdays. Experience teaching special needs students a plus. Knowledge of Japanese culture and art a plus. Pay: All-inclusive fee in the amount of $100 per tour. Fee of $25 per hour will be paid for exhibition information session.   This position is currently not accepting applications.
