Description

The Communications & Content Manager promotes and positions CORE as a preeminent first responder in humanitarian emergencies. Reporting to the Director, Communications & Content, this position will work to achieve CORE’s cross-departmental goals and contribute to enhancing the credibility of the organization. She/he/they will source content from global programs and collaborate with the design team to create compelling marketing materials that communicate our impact and mission. The ideal candidate will be a strong writer and content producer who understands the importance of storytelling across online and offline channels. The Communications & Content Manager will be a key liaison with teams including Partnerships & Development, Events, VIP Ambassador Relations, People & Culture, IT and Programs. This role will also work with colleagues around the world to ensure our messaging about CORE’s work is accurate and current.

Reports to Director, Communications and Content. This role is based out of Los Angeles, with a hybrid remote and in-person work modality. The Manager will be expected to visit the LA CORE HQ office weekly.

Responsibilities:

  • Source and develop impactful stories and messaging that drives funding and brand awareness.

  • Collaborate with HQ departments to develop, write and edit marketing collateral, including but not limited to: newsletters, donor materials, fact sheets, pitch decks, beneficiary stories, brochures, email copy, annual reports, website articles and social media posts.

  • Support Director in creating compelling video resources to communicate impact.

  • Maintain internal?documents that include latest approved language and messaging guidance.

  • Liaise with Programs and Data teams to consistently gather and update impact stats across print and digital marketing collateral, website and social media.

  • Create and manage website content using WordPress.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BA/S degree preferred in journalism, communications, English, or related field.

  • 3-5 years professional experience in communications or journalism; preference for experience in nonprofit or NGO.

  • Exceptional, demonstrated written and verbal communications skills.

  • Excellent attention to detail, fact-checking ability, and temperament suitable to working in a deadline-oriented environment.

  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills, able to manage and deliver on multiple assignments under tight deadlines.?

  • Open to learning new software and systems, including project management, video editing, and graphic design tools

  • Works well with direction but also works well autonomously when needed, takes proactive approach to keep projects and goals on track. Must be a team player.

  • Strong ability to work across teams, departments, countries, and time zones to support the organization’s broader goals.

  • Ability to “translate” technical language into digestible narratives.

  • Passion for service, humanitarian relief, international development and/or global health.

  • Fluency in English required; knowledge of other languages a plus.

  • Fluency in MS Office products required.

  • Experience working in Adobe Creative Cloud, video editing, and graphic design software a plus.

  • Create, edit, and send marketing emails and newsletters.

  • Support gala/events storytelling including video, photo slideshows, signage, invitation packages, and other marketing materials.

  • Serve as a key Communications?team?resource during emergency responses; keep messaging on online and offline channels updated.

  • Offer administrative, project management, and logistics support to ensure meeting productivity and follow-up actions are clearly defined and met within deadlines.

  • Other duties as assigned.
