Fort Greene Council, Inc. (FGC) is a 501 (c) 3 not-for-profit organization established in Brooklyn, New York, in 1973 and incorporated in 1974. The Council strives to provide services at several life cycle stages, beginning with our early childhood programs and continuing with programs for our older adults.
FGC operates fourteen (16) dynamic and invigorating Older Adult Clubs in seven Brooklyn community districts and one (1) educationally advanced child education center, Young Minds UPK-4.
$22.77 an hour
Prepare, cook, serve, and supervise the serving of food for safe handling and proper temperature control. Maintain proper portion controls of food served.
Prepare Daily Food Use Sheet and Monthly Inventory Reports as required.
Implement and maintain proper food safety and security measures to avoid health hazards.
Ensure all kitchen-related equipment is properly cleaned and maintained. Notify the Program Director of any equipment needed and/or required replacement.
Maintain proper food and equipment inventory and documentation.
Ensure the safe and orderly storage of dry perishable and frozen food including daily check of refrigerator and freezer temperatures.
Promotes and models effective teamwork.
Assist the Kitchen Technician and Custodian in cleanup and preparation.
Requirements:
High School diploma or HS Equivalency, and 1 year of cooking in a commercial kitchen. Must have a Food Handlers Certificate. Must be able to stand, bend, lift 50 lbs., and move intermittently.
