Description

Duos Technologies is seeking Engineering and Business Interns for the summer to work alongside our power generation team. This is an an In Person Opportunity in Jacksonville, FL. A successful internship could develop into a career opportunity in the fast paced and in demand fields of power generation and/ or edge data centers.

The ideal candidate will be a rising college senior or recent graduate in engineering or business management who is detail oriented and motivated to work and learn from an exceptionally experienced and skilled group of professionals.

Job Summary:

The Plant Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Intern will support the daily activities of the O&M division, which is responsible for the reliable operation and maintenance of the company’s power generation assets. This role offers hands-on exposure to key aspects of power plant operations, including procurement, maintenance planning, performance reporting, inventory control, and documentation management. The intern will assist in preparing maintenance records, drafting standard operating procedures (SOPs), supporting procurement requisitions, and analyzing plant data to improve operational efficiency. The position is ideal for an engineering or business student seeking real-world experience in the power generation industry. This role may also involve limited on-site observation and collaboration with plant technicians and vendors under the supervision of senior O&M staff.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Support Procurement Processes
    • Assist in creating requisitions for spare parts, consumables, and services.
    • Track delivery status and help maintain procurement logs.
  • Maintenance Recordkeeping
    • Help update and organize maintenance logs and service records.
    • Digitize historical records and support the maintenance management system
  • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
    • Assist in drafting, formatting, or reviewing SOPs for O&M procedures.
    • Help ensure SOPs are properly archived and accessible to plant personnel.
  • Operational & Performance Reporting
    • Support the preparation of daily, weekly, and monthly plant performance reports.
    • Collect and validate operational data (e.g., runtime, fuel consumption, downtime).
  • Inventory and Asset Management
    • Participate in inventory checks and reconciliation of critical spares.
    • Update equipment lists, BOMs, and tag numbers in databases or spreadsheets.
  • Preventive Maintenance Planning
    • Support scheduling and planning of preventive maintenance tasks.
    • Help issue reminders or work orders for upcoming maintenance activities.
  • Data Analysis and Benchmarking
    • Analyze plant operating parameters to support performance benchmarking.
    • Identify trends or anomalies in turbine, auxiliary, or BOP systems.
  • On-Site Assistance (if applicable)
    • Shadow technicians during inspections or scheduled maintenance (based on site access policies).
    • Learn and observe safety protocols and field troubleshooting techniques.
  • Documentation and Compliance
    • Ensure compliance documentation is up to date (permits, service records, vendor certificates).
    • Assist in plant audit preparation by organizing supporting materials.
  • Administrative and Support Tasks
  • Provide general support to the Plant O&M team as needed (meeting minutes, status updates, coordination with vendors or other departments).

Position Requirements

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • This position is ideal for an undergraduate student pursuing a degree in engineering or business who has a strong interest in large-scale power plant equipment, fleet management, and plant operations.
  • The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical and organizational skills, with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic work environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential for collaborating across engineering, operations, and procurement teams. Candidates should be proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and have a working understanding of data entry and reporting processes.
  • A willingness to learn, adaptability, and a genuine interest in the energy or infrastructure sector are key attributes for success in this role.

Education and Experience:

This position is ideally suited for recent graduates or senior-year undergraduates pursuing a bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial) or Business Administration.
