This position is funded through a government program (Canada Summer Jobs), which creates summer job opportunities for youth; therefore, eligible candidates must be:

  • Must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period. The youth must be 15 years of age at the beginning of the employment period. The youth may be more than 30 years of age at the end of the employment period as long as the youth was 30 at the beginning of the employment period.
  • Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment. International students are not eligible participants. Youth awaiting a refugee status ruling, as well as those who hold a temporary visitor visa, youth visa or work visa are ineligible.
  • Must have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

The Position

Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital is seeking a highly motivated Data Analyst Intern to support our Inpatient and Ambulatory Access and Flow teams. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to meaningful, system-level improvements that enhance access to care, clinic flow, and the overall experience of children, youth, and families.

The Data Analyst Intern will support data-driven decision-making by analyzing operational data, identifying trends and barriers, and translating insights into practical recommendations that improve access, predictability, and responsiveness across services provided at Holland Bloorview.

Compensation: $20.00 per hour. Employees will receive an additional 4% in lieu of vacation and paid statutory holidays.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze ambulatory access and flow data from multiple sources, including scheduling systems, referral patterns, waitlists, throughput metrics, and clinic flow data.
  • Conduct descriptive and comparative analyses to identify trends in demand, capacity, and utilization.
  • Collaborate with clinical, administrative, and quality improvement partners to translate data insights into operational recommendations.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of key performance indicators
  • Contribute to quality improvement projects
  • Conduct environmental scans or benchmarking analyses to identify leading practices across Appointment Services

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary student or recent graduate in a relevant field such as health sciences, public health, data analytics, health administration, business, or a related discipline.
  • Current student of a Bachelors or Masters program in business, health sciences or relevant fields.
  • Strong analytical and numeracy skills, with the ability to synthesize and interpret data.
  • Experience or coursework involving data analysis, dashboards, or reporting is an asset.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, manage competing priorities, and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
