Lab Technician II  

Description

The Lab Technician II position is responsible for day to day sample processing to support order fulfillment for our clients.  As a critical member of the team, the qualified individual will assist in the development of a growing compound management operation.  The position requires a highly motivated and technically skilled professional with compound management expertise and respect within the industry, able to work in a high demand environment. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

May include some or all of the following. Other additional duties may be assigned:

  • Assure that all areas of a complex high throughput compound management operation operate safely and with the highest level of quality
  • Process potentially hazardous, small molecule compound collections for various clients using best practices with high attention to detail. This may include using both manual and automated techniques to perform receiving, weighing, dissolving, sampling, storing, plating and shipping compounds, and a variety of solvents.
  • Perform data handling, inventory tracking, and accurate record keeping including retrieving plates, tubes, or vials from -20°C freezers.
  • Manage workload and train peers and entry level staff. Carry out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Maintain working knowledge of software and instrumentation needed to carry out Compound Management Operations.
  • Must follow Standard Operating Procedures and write or update SOP’s as required. 
  • Maintains a clean and safe working environment – including wiping down work area, thoroughly cleaning all utensils, restock supplies, sweep work station and remove all trash
  • Maintains regular work schedule and is free from excessive absenteeism or tardiness
  • Performs all other duties as assigned

Internal and External Relationship and Level of Interaction

  • Internal: Medium level of interaction with staff across all departments
  • External: Low level of interaction with external vendors and contacts

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • None

Position Requirements

Education and/or experience

  • High school diploma or GED required; B.S. in life sciences is a plus
  • 1-5 years of related experience
  • Experience with sample management instrumentation and software (LIMS), including development testing.
  • Thorough attention to detail, ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to handle multiple deadlines and associated pressures
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills

Compensation $20.50/hr
