System Integration and Test Engineer - Mid

Description

Under general supervision, The Systems Integration and Test Engineer shall:

- Formulates and defines system scope and objectives through research and fact-finding to solve complex testing problems.

- Prepares detailed specifications from which test software will be written.

- Designs, codes, tests, and debugs testing software and tools.

- Competent to work on most phases of the test program.

- Familiar with FAA-STD-026A NAS Software Development Standard, or equivalent.

- Moderately experienced with structured software development and modern software test tools and techniques.

 

Duties may include:

• Perform testing in Physical and Virtual test labs to ensure the system, test procedure, and test inputs are prepared to execute with the customer present

• Execute procedures that verify the system is properly configured and operating in the NAS

• Coordinate activities, communication, and planning efforts with FAA and Leidos personnel

• Debug system level issues and provide detailed supporting data on identified issues

• Understand System Level Requirements and perform system interface checkouts

• Work with team lead to provide guidance to fellow test team members and ensure team goals are appropriately set to meet all program milestones

• Execute commands for remote support staff (Integrated Lab Engineering/Networking) and provide feedback to solve problems remotely

• Analyze identified issues in conjunction with System Engineering and Software in regard to developing solutions

• Learn system architecture, design, functions and capabilities to support the integration and test of the new capabilities and enhancements

• Collaborate with the TFDM system engineering team to develop test approaches for new and modified requirements

• Execute commands for remote support staff (ILE/Networking) and provide feedback to solve problems remotely

• Conduct Testing at Air Traffic Control Towers (ATCT) in operational site conditions with the FAA customer when required

• Perform formal test execution with the customer and quality assurance organizations

• Coordinate activities, communication, and planning efforts with FAA and Leidos personnel

• Understand XML data and ability to troubleshoot connection issues with network configurations, IP addresses, JMS queue configurations, etc.

• Demonstrate test execution to the FAA on a run for record to achieve customer acceptance of the content per release

 
Position Requirements

Applicants will be subject to a background investigation. Must be a US citizen or 3 year permanent resident. The company is not able to sponsor applicants at this time.

 

**BEFORE STARTING, MUST BE WILLING TO ENDURE 2+ MONTHS OF TIME TO ALLOW COMPLETION OF FAA BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION**

 

Travel required:

- Must be willing and able to travel ~20% of the time

Technical skills:

• Experience with UNIX/Linux operating, troubleshoot connection /network configurations skills

• Experience in following a documented Integration and Test Development Process

• Strong integration skills with hands-on experience integrating large software complex systems

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interface with internal and external customers

• Willing to collaborate with FAA customer on sites to build system knowledge.

- Experience or domain knowledge of FAA Air Traffic is desired

 

The Systems Integration and Test Engineer shall possess advanced integration skills and the ability to work independently in the following categories of integration:

• New system functionality integration

• External Interface integration checkouts during risk reduction activities

• Regression testing

• Analyzing identified issues and help determine a solution

• Problem identification/analysis.

 

A good academic understanding and/or exposure to system engineering practices to contribute to and/or assist with system integration, requirements engineering, operational and decision analysis, systems definition, requirements baseline control and management is desired as well as:.

• FAA Air Traffic Domain Knowledge

• Experience with formal test with a government agency/customer

• Knowledge of interfacing systems in the NAS such as FDIO, STARS, TBFM, ASDE-X, and ATMC.

 
Full-Time/Part-Time Full-Time  
Education At a minimum, the following skill/experience level: - Bachelor's Degree in computer science, scientific, or appropriate engineering discipline - 3-5 years of relevant experience  
Salary Range 90k-138k
