JOB SUMMARY: The Clinical Product Manager (CPM) is the clinical subject matter expert for posterior segment products. This role combines deep clinical knowledge with market insight to drive product adoption, support sales enablement, and contribute to commercialization strategy. The CPM partners with Product Management, Medical Science Liaisons, and Clinical Directors in Germany to align on new product launches and global initiatives. Additionally, CPM works closely with Sales to deliver in-person and virtual product demonstrations and capture customer feedback. In collaboration with the assigned Marketing Communications Specialist, CPM ensures that clinical insights and positioning are effectively translated into campaigns and customer-facing content.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as the clinical subject matter expert for the assigned product segment.
  • Support the Sales team with product demonstrations, training, and customer education (in-person and virtual).
  • Partner with Product Management, Medical Science Liaisons, and Clinical Directors in Germany to align new product launches, gather strategic input, and obtain answers needed to refine and implement the commercialization strategy.
  • Work cross-functionally to ensure the team is ready for new product / feature launches.
  • Collect, analyze, and communicate customer feedback to inform product positioning, commercialization strategy, and product development.
  • Define product messaging and positioning in collaboration with Marketing leadership.
  • Partner with the assigned Marketing Communications Specialist to translate clinical strategy into effective campaigns, collateral, and digital content.
  • Provide source material for case studies, testimonials, educational resources, and scientific communications.
  • Collaborate with the Clinical Relations Manager to integrate KOL insights and ensure product strategy is amplified through external voices (KOLs, societies, publications).
  • Contribute to tradeshow planning, ensuring alignment of product messaging with booth presence and event activities.
  • Track competitor activity, industry trends, and market dynamics to ensure continued product differentiation.
  • Support regulatory and clinical teams to ensure marketing content remains compliant.
 
Position Requirements

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Minimum five years’ clinical experience in eye care, with deep knowledge of posterior segment.
  • Demonstrated ability to credibly communicate clinical data and applications to team members, physicians, researchers, and customers.
  • Strong understanding of clinical applications and benefits of ophthalmic imaging devices.
  • Excellent oral presentation skills, with the ability to deliver product demonstrations confidently in both in-person and virtual formats.
  • Strong analytical and business acumen, with ability to synthesize clinical insights into strategic recommendations.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with international colleagues (Product Management, Clinical Directors, MSLs).
  • Excellent teamwork, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Travel: up to 50%

  • This position functions in both an office and clinical environment and requires fine manipulation and simple grasping in order to utilize the computer and other standard office equipment such as telephone, fax machines, copiers, etc.
  • Required occasional lifting and transporting of items.
  • This position may require traveling to clinical sites, meetings, and tradeshows.
  • Equipment typically used: Computers, Heidelberg devices, USB devices.

Note: For the purpose of this summary, occasionally is used to represent up to 1/3 of the time given to the work day, frequently represents 1/3 to 2/3 of the time and constantly represents 2/3 or more of the time.

Salary Range: $100,000 - $140,000
