Description

The Senior Joint Logistics Planner has extensive munitions experience to support theater-level ammunition planning, accountability, sustainment, explosive safety, and operational readiness. This position will plan, coordinate, and oversee ammunition support for forces preparing for deployment or operating in theater while providing senior leaders with accurate visibility into munitions posture, supply-chain risks, movement status, and potential shortages. This role will provide expert munitions advice across competition, crisis, contingency, theater, and operational planning activities. The role will coordinate with joint and component organizations, subordinate commands, logistics staff, and other stakeholders to maintain a sustainable munitions posture and ensure compliance with applicable explosive safety requirements.


Key Responsibilities:

• Plan, coordinate, and oversee all phases of ammunition support for deploying and deployed forces.
• Maintain munitions accountability processes, reporting mechanisms, and data-system integration to support senior-level decision-making.
• Maintain inter-service visibility and accountability of munitions supporting theater requirements.
• Track munitions movements throughout the theater to identify, mitigate, and prevent shortages before they occur.
• Monitor munitions supply-chain status, trends, component availability, and subordinate-command sustainability.
• Advise leadership on explosive safety risks, compliance requirements, and mitigation strategies.
• Develop, update, and maintain applicable theater explosive safety policies and procedures.
• Provide senior-level munitions expertise to competition, crisis, contingency, theater, and operational planning efforts.
• Support joint component Class V posture initiatives through the consolidation, interpretation, coordination, and dissemination of posture information.
• Conduct or support inter-theater surveys and assessments to validate munitions posture, capacity, and sustainability.
• Coordinate with applicable joint munitions working groups and governance bodies to deconflict activities and track and report logistics risks.
• Serve as a senior representative coordinating with operations, logistics, plans, and future-operations stakeholders to maintain an accurate theater posture plan and associated tactics, techniques, and procedures.
• Provide oversight, guidance, and quality assurance for munitions personnel and supporting quality assurance staff.
• Prepare senior-level briefings, decision-support products, status reports, risk assessments, and logistics recommendations.
• Identify emerging munitions risks, develop mitigation options, and communicate impacts to appropriate stakeholders.
• Mentor junior planners and contribute to continuous improvement of munitions planning, accountability, and reporting processes.

Position Requirements

Required Qualifications:

• Active TS/SCI security clearance.
• Extensive experience in joint logistics planning, munitions management, ammunition support, or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience planning, coordinating, or overseeing ammunition support for deploying or deployed forces.
• Experience with munitions accountability, supply-chain visibility, movement tracking, and sustainment planning.
• Working knowledge of explosive safety requirements, risk management, and compliance processes.
• Experience supporting theater, contingency, crisis, competition, or operational planning activities.
• Ability to analyze complex logistics data and translate findings into clear recommendations for senior leaders.
• Experience coordinating across joint, inter-service, component, and subordinate-command organizations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience supporting a geographic combatant command, joint headquarters, or comparable defense organization.
• Experience with joint munitions working groups, boards, or governance processes.
• Experience coordinating with operations, logistics, plans, future-operations, and future-plans staff elements.
• Experience developing or implementing theater-level explosive safety policy.
• Experience conducting inter-theater surveys or munitions posture assessments.
• Experience with Class V posture planning, munitions sustainability, and force-deployment readiness.
• Experience integrating multiple munitions data systems or logistics information systems.
• Military experience in joint logistics, ammunition operations, munitions management, or explosive safety.
• Experience overseeing subject matter personnel, quality assurance staff, or distributed logistics teams.
• Familiarity with theater posture plans, TTP development, operational plans, contingency plans, and senior-leader decision support.
• Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, military studies, operations research, or a related field.

Willingness and ability to travel via locally provided aircraft, vehicles, and boats to remote locations.
Ability to work in challenging environments, including high-threat areas and adverse weather conditions. Travel: 10–20%

Ability to work in secure, fast-paced operational environments.
Must meet physical and medical standards for access to military facilities.
Able to travel as required within PACAF/USINDOPACOM AOR.
