Job Summary

Develop and execute comprehensive external communication strategies to raise awareness, extend reach, engage stakeholders, and promote RBHA’s mission, vision, and values. Manage social media platforms, create content, and support internal collaboration.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential duties and primary responsibilities below are intended to describe the general requirements of this job and are not intended to be an exhaustive statement of duties. Other duties may be assigned.

  • In partnership with the Director of Communications and Marketing, develop and execute the strategic plan for external communications and marketing
  • Identify target audiences and develop aligned messaging
  • Manage social media platforms and content calendars
  • Create content for digital and print media (e.g., website, press releases, newsletters, program brochures)
  • Ensure brand integrity across platforms
  • Collaborate with staff to gather stories and data
  • Facilitate internal communications meetings to promote internal collaboration and staff engagement
  • Other duties as assigned

 

 

 
Position Requirements

Minimum Qualifications—Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or a related field
  • 1–2 years of experience developing and executing strategic communications plans, managing social media platforms, and creating digital and print content
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and design software
  • OR an equivalent combination of education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities that demonstrates the capacity to perform the essential functions of the position, as permitted by applicable regulatory standards.
  • Possession of a valid Virginia driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record in accordance with agency policy.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with photography and/or videography
  • Familiarity with audience segmentation and campaign analytics
  • Experience in behavioral health or public sector communications
  • Project management and organizational skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Creative thinking and problem solving skills
  • Knowledge of strategic communications planning and brand management
  • Skill in graphic design and content creation
  • Skill in managing social media engagement and analytics

Work Environment and Physical Demands

This role generally performs work under the following conditions:

 

  • Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. While this role may involve desk-based tasks, employees must be able to ambulate independently, operate a motor vehicle, and transition between office and field environments. Field-based responsibilities may include walking short distances, climbing stairs, and carrying essential work items such as a laptop.

 

  • Close concentration, visual attention and need for manual dexterity required.

 

  • Staff may occasionally engage in behavior intervention strategies, such as verbal de-escalation or redirection, to support client safety and therapeutic goals.

 

  • Normal working conditions. Work is typically performed in a standard behavioral health environment with minimal exposure to environmental hazards.

Starting Salary Range $64,342.85 DOQ
