Description

We are seeking a motivated Staff Accountant to join our Assurance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career accounting professional looking to build experience in public accounting, audit, and financial reporting.

The Staff Accountant will support client engagements by preparing accurate workpapers, performing audit procedures, assisting with financial statements, and researching accounting and auditing matters. As experience grows, this position will take on increasingly complex assignments and greater responsibility.

What You’ll Do

  • Prepare accurate workpapers for accounting and audit engagements.
  • Perform audit procedures for assigned accounts and transactions.
  • Assist with the preparation of financial statements and related notes.
  • Research accounting and auditing issues as assigned.
  • Communicate engagement status, questions, and issues to the In-Charge.
  • Meet established quality, billable-hour, and realization expectations.
  • Complete assigned professional development and CPE training.
  • Develop increasingly advanced Excel and technical accounting skills.
  • Follow firm engagement methodologies and documentation standards.
 
Position Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree with an accounting concentration or equivalent.
  • Eligible to sit for the CPA exam.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting and auditing principles.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently as experience progresses.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in Accounting, an accounting internship, or one or more years of related public accounting experience is preferred but not required.

This is an exempt position and may require a low level of travel, generally to other offices or local client locations

The salary range for this position is $61,000-$79,600. Actual compensation within the range will be determined based on a variety of factors, including the candidate's skills, experience, qualifications, geographic location, internal equity, and business needs. Placement within the range is at PBMares' discretion and is based on the specific circumstances of each candidate and position. PBMares also offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, a 401(k) retirement plan, paid holidays, paid time off, and other employee benefit programs.
