Job Description
A PCA will usually work one-on-one with our Clients in their homes 2-7 times a week to assist with Activities of Daily Living. The PCA will complete tasks such as:
Helping their clients with day-to-day activities like preparing meals, cleaning, bathing, oral care, dressing, undressing, grooming, toileting, laundry, along with other basic activities to prepare the client for the day ahead.
Assist your clients with activities outside the home such as grocery shopping and running errands.
Create a safe and positive living situation for your clients by communicating with the family and other staff about any concerns or challenges
· Each of our clients are different and each will have different requirements. You will receive an individual care plan for each client that you are assigned to assist.
In order to be eligible for this position, you should have:
A valid driver’s license
Proof of Insurance
Ability to pass background screening as mandated by the state
Required use of PPE and practice preventive measures while in the clients home
Recognition of the needs of others
Ability to build relationships with people from different backgrounds
Flexibility, adaptability, and willingness to spend your time caring for your clients with dignity, patience, and compassion
Dedication to professional development, including organizational and state-required training
Basic Qualifications:
Be eighteen (18) years of age.
Demonstrate ability to read, write and follow written Plan of Care and document tasks performed.
Have at least six (6) months paid work experience in one of the following: As an agency Homemaker, Nurse Aide, Maid or Household worker or have at least one (1) year of experience, paid or unpaid: in caring for children or caring for sick or aged individual.
Be self-directed and work with minimal supervision.
Demonstrate dependability, tact, patience and the ability to follow instructions.
Possess good interpersonal communication skills.
Essential Functions/Areas of Accountability
Remain with client at all times. If the client requests privacy, remain in adjacent room, staying alert to possible needs of the client.
Communicate client conditions/changes, questions and concerns to the Supervisor in a timely manner.
Do not violate client confidentiality.
Do not violate client employee relationship.
Know and understand Client's Rights and Responsibilities.
Know and understand 1st Access Code of Ethics.
Follow Infection Control Guidelines.
Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
