Directs quality assurance activities, implements and maintains Ventura Foods Corporate Quality Assurance policies, programs, and procedures. Provides strategic planning for quality and process improvements as member of the plant management staff. Assure that customer specifications are achieved and the facilities meets local, state and federal food safety and health regulations. Provides leadership and management to the Quality Assurance technical and laboratory supervision staff. Develops, implements and maintains Corporate QA and facility policies, procedures, and programs supporting food safety and quality systems with a special focus on specific customer requirements, HACCP and SQF level 2 specifics. Assures that QA team is properly trained in food safety, quality systems, SQF requirements and testing methodologies. Leads the HACCP teams. Develops quality assurance plans by conducting hazard analyses; identifying critical control points and preventative measures; establishing critical limits, monitoring procedures, customer complaint analysis, corrective actions, and verification procedures. Manages quality projects, sets goals and objectives, statistically evaluate results to improve the product. Manages projects to reduce costs, eliminate variation, and standardize methods. Develops and achieves the QA/Laboratory Department budget and capital expenditure. Responsible for determining if ingredients, packaging, or product is acceptable to use or ship. Prepares and handles second party audits (customer) and third party food safety, quality systems, process and product audits with a special emphasis of keeping plant staff advised of ever changing SQF -2 requirements and prepare plant to potentially meet SQF level 3 requirements. Provides management and employee training in GMP, HACCP, Allergen, Food Security, annual or when needed. Supplies technical assistance to the facility in manufacturer new products and existing products that meet or exceeds customer specification and expectations and other duties as required by the Operations Manager.

Position Requirements Bachelor Degree in Food Science, Microbiology or related field or equivalent experience. Ten years of management responsibilities in Quality Assurance, Regulatory, Technical, R&D and/or other food science related field. Strong leadership, team building, motivator, ability to prioritize, decisiveness, and administrative skills required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with good computer skills.
