Description

Purpose of the Job:



Provides leadership of supply chain projects and activities, including production planning, material planning, and inventory forecasting activities to improve customer service levels, reduce costs and improve accuracy. Examine existing procedures or opportunities for streamlining activities to meet product distribution needs. Direct the movement, storage, or processing of inventory.



Major Duties and Responsibilities:



Manage appropriate supply chain planning strategies to achieve desired service levels and inventory targets. Document physical supply chain processes, such as workflows, cycle times, position responsibilities, or system flows



Hire, train, develop, and manage regional planning team of 15-25 employees in accordance with planning best practices as assigned.



Participate in the design and implementation of ERP system integration development and upgrades to support desired planning strategies.



Ensure appropriate metrics are amaintained and communicated to drive execution of regional team goals.



Act as a liason between regional planning team and production facilities to ensure collaborative planning process is maintained.



Participate in the coordination of engineering changes, product line extensions, or new product launches to ensure orderly and timely transitions in material or production flow.

Manage inventory, including the disposition of obsolete and excess inventory and manage, and manage and coordinate physical inventories



Requirements:



Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in Business Management, Supply Chain or closely related field required (MBA highly preferred). At least 5 years of supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment is required. APICS, CPPM (Certified Professional Purchasing Manager), or CSCP (Certifired Supply Chain Professional) certification is preferred. Experience in production planning and scheduling, inventory management, MRP processand distrubition is a plus. Proven track record of implementation of processes leading to excellence and improving costs metrics through the use of best practice techniques such as MRp planning, JIT, kaizen, etc. Warehouse, Purchasing and or Buyer experience required.



Knowledge and Skill Level:



Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods. Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources mode

Knowledge of facility's packaging, equipment, and capacity is essential.  Use of mathematical concepts for needed calculations and projections.  Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form using electronic media, telephone and direct contact with internal and external personnel.  Operate standard office equipment and demonstrate competency in the use of standard software applications.   Responsible for all planning, procurement and daily scheduling of the facility.
