GENERAL PURPOSE OF POSITION

The Loan Processor & Underwriter will provide administrative duties for the Vice President – Sales & Marketing. She/he will be responsible for delivering excellent service to both internal and external clients, will process and do the preliminary underwriting on loan applications, prepare commitment letters and provide assistance in sales and marketing. 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Review and organize loan applications;
  • Prepare and underwrite loan applications for submission to and approval by the Vice President – Sales & Marketing of the Cornerstone Fund and the appropriate loan committees;
  • Prepare loan commitment letters for transmission to approved borrowers;
  • Assist in preparing, compiling and distributing materials for Finance and Executive/Policy Committee’s as needed; 
  • Receive telephone inquiries from prospective borrowers discussing interest rates, loan terms, and loan products;  
  • Maintain the Loan Prospect Report – This includes but is not limited to tracking and managing new leads and following up on referrals;
  • Send out correspondence – e.g. Thank you cards, loan applications and marketing materials;  
  • Arrange sales and marketing meeting with Area Mission Interpreters, staff meetings with Mission Interpreters and take meeting notes; ;
  • Assist the Vice President – Sales & Marketing with establishing and maintaining written policies and procedures for receiving, processing and underwriting loan applications;
  • Develop and maintain professional and courteous relationships with staff, directors, partners and other constituents; serve as a positive role model by exemplifying values which are consistent with the United Church of Christ.
  • Contribute to the effectiveness of work teams by fostering a spirit of cooperation and accomplishing assigned tasks;
  • Assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
 
Position Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform successfully in this position:

  • High school graduate or equivalent with some college preferred.
  • Three to five years administrative experience with a thorough understanding of the operations of a mortgage loan processing/underwriting department in a regulated industry such as a bank, savings & loan or credit union;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Outstanding customer service skills;
  • Must be detail oriented and have knowledge of general office procedures;
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet critical deadlines;
  • Self-starter with the ability to prioritize work;    
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and collegially as well as independently;
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook applications, Adobe, IOS and CRM software. Must be able to effectively conduct internet-based research and produce spreadsheet, graphs, and charts for professional presentations.
