Description

GENERAL PURPOSE OF POSITION: The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and carries out the responsibilities in the following functional areas in consultation with the HR Director: benefits administration, employee relations, training and development, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, affirmative action/EEO and employment law compliance.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Administers various human resource plans and procedures and assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; prepares and maintains employee handbook.

  • Participates in developing HR goals, objectives and systems

  • Manages and monitors the performance evaluation program and suggests revisions as necessary.

  • Performs benefits administration to include claims resolution, change reporting, and communicating benefit information to employees.

  • Participates in new hire orientation and ensures all documentation and scheduling is prepared for the onboarding process.

  • Conforms to EEO regulations and prepares and files EEO-1 report.

  • Manages the recruitment process for exempt and non-exempt positions, temporary employment; writes and places advertisements, monitors career/skills portal.

  • Maintains organizational charts for the National Ministries

  • Maintains and updates Staff directories

  • Assists in evaluation of reports.Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of the HR Office and services performed.

  • Serves as a member of the Safety team and attend Safety Council meetings

  • Attends and actively participates in meetings of the HR Liaisons

  • Maintains HRIS records and compiles reports from the database.

  • Keeps current on HR trends and legal matters impacting the HR field.Attends SHRM meetings and other seminars and programs related to HR.

  • Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment.

  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

 

 
Position Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  The requirements listed below are representative of the education and experience and the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required to perform successfully in this position.

 

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Human Resources or Business and three to five years of hands-on human resource experience. PHR, SPHR or SHRM-CP certification a huge plus.

  • General knowledge of US employment laws and practices.

  • Experience in the administration of benefits and compensation programs and other HR programs.

  • Ability to exhibit a high level of professionalism and confidentiality

  • Experience with rapid and complex changing work environment

  • High level of emotional intelligence

  • Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities

  • Experience creating and driving effective employee relations, retention and reward initiatives.

  • Excellent communications skills and significant internal drive and desire to be successful.

  • Strong solutions focus and comfort working in an environment which demands strong deliverables along with the ability to identify problems and drive appropriate solutions.

  • Sensitivity and desire to work in a multicultural, multiracial, open & affirming accessible to all environment.

  • Strong internal and external customer service focus

  • Passion for innovative HR solutions and process development

  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and databases; experience with an HRIS and time and attendance system; staffing portal
