What We Are Looking For:

NCU is currently seeking a dynamic individual to become part of our Leadership team as Dean for the School of Education.

This is a leadership position, reporting to the Provost. Responsibilities include: developing and implementing strategies for the School of Education; establishing and maintaining productive relationships with external constituencies, including educational and professional communities, accrediting bodies, regulatory agencies, and the alumni community; and leading the School team toward continuous quality improvement.

This is a remote/virtual position and does not require relocation.

 
Position Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides academic and other strategic leadership for the School
  • Responsible for strategic planning
  • Responsible for continuous improvement in existing programs and curricular evaluation and development by overseeing assessment and academic program review activities
  • Responsible for developing high quality, differentiated, new curriculum and degree program development consistent with the School’s mission and market opportunities
  • Responsible for external outreach initiatives
  • Performs as the chief academic and budgetary officer of the School
  • Manages and improves upon processes.
  • Manages and holds accountable the faculty and staff of the School
  • Serves as a productive partner with other School Deans and University staff members to fulfill the mission, objectives, and quality of the University.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position is responsible for leading and managing all personnel assigned to the School of Education, and is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the department.  Direct reports include assistant deans and directors.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Proven ability to communicate well in a variety of settings with a variety of media and delivery systems, including written, oral, and social media is required
  • Proven ability to lead in academic and other educational settings is required
  • Proven ability to effective establish and maintain relationships with external constituencies, communities, educational partners, accreditation bodies (regional and professional), and the School’s constituents is required.
  • Proven ability to manage and improve curricula to meet changing markets and needs is required
  • Academic-level proficiency in at least one language other than English, preferably Spanish, is highly desired.

Education and Experience

  • Terminal degree (Ph.D./Ed.D.) from a regionally accredited institution is required
  • Successful experience in achieving and maintaining regional and professional (CAEP, NCATE, TEAC) accreditation is required.
  • Minimum of five years’ leadership experience in an academic setting is required.
  • Experience in building educational licensure programs is required.
