Position Description


The Inside Sales Associate is responsible for responding to incoming sales leads that are generated as a result of Shift4’s Partner Program. This position requires the individual to speak professionally and educate prospective customers about Shift4 and its payment gateway DOLLARS ON THE NET®. Shift4 supports merchants within most major industries including Restaurant, Hospitality, Retail, e-Commerce, GEM (Government, Education, & Medical), etc. The Inside Sales Associate is responsible for conducting product demonstrations and for educating prospects on the features and benefits of DOLLARS ON THE NET and Shift4’s ever-expanding suite of security solutions.

Essential Functions


  • Respond to incoming sales leads and make cold calls
  • Address prospects’ daily credit, debit, and gift card business practices, including prospects’ infrastructure
  • Conduct demonstrations and explain the features and benefits of DOLLARS ON THE NET and close sales
  • Work with the VP of Business Development to conduct contract negotiations, contract terms, and pricing
  • Record daily sales activity in a CRM application that tracks activities throughout the sales process including filling in a Prospect Questionnaire, and recording prospects’ pain points, etc.
  • Provide weekly reports to management, updating them on the status of all assigned leads
  • Identify prospective customers by attending and evaluating tradeshow and conference leads
  • Travel may be required to offsite meetings, tradeshows, user groups


Position Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of sales principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services, including marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration, and sales techniques
  • Demonstrate strong selling and closing skills
  • Work cooperatively with other departments within Shift4 that touch the sales department
  • Possess exceptional organizational skills
  • Establish sales goals based on company-defined quota requirements and implement plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish those goals

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors or Associate degree, or 2 to 5 years of sales experience or equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position
  • Experience in Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), card payments, or a related field is preferred
  • Must be proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Salesforce
  • Understanding of and experience in computers and Internet-based technologies is a plus
