Position Summary:

Provide housing search duties and instruction to recovery-based emergency shelter community.

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Assist Families in permanent housing search
  2. Meet with each family weekly
  3. Maintain updated case management files
  4. Access ETO assist software
  5. Submit weekly placement and effort reports
  6. Establish relationships with housing authorities, management companies and private landlords
  7. Assist clients with rental histories, credit and CORI issues, and obtaining documentation for priorities
  8. Ensure DHCD compliance (20 hours a week of housing search)
  9. Access available funding for clients to utilize in housing search and placement
  10. Community outreach to organizations that assist clients
  11. Rehabilitate all prohibitive housing barriers

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Physically and verbally able to interact with members and staff.
  • At times, be able to lift up to 20 lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Ability to be flexible to work evenings, early mornings, weekends and holidays.

Position Requirements
  1. Bachelor Degree preferred
  2. 2 years of relevant work experience in shelters
  3. Familiarity with DHCD rules, regulations and policies
  4. Prior experience with housing authorities and management companies
  5. Knowledge of MBHP HOMEBASE program, RAFT, Family Aid, transitional housing and other social service programs
  6. Familiarity with substance abuse
