GENERAL PURPOSE OF POSITION: Assist the Director and other staff and volunteers in carrying out development programs of the national setting of the United Church of Christ primarily by maintaining data management systems that support the donor and prospect management of all UCC offices, services and programs; serve as the knowledge base for philanthropy information by leveraging the database as a strategic fundraising tool, providing training and protocols for modeling efficient engagement with the database.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Manages the information services support areas, overseeing gift processing, data entry, reporting and optimizing usage of the development database system.
Manages Raiser’s Edge including prospects, donors, organizations, foundations and other organizational records.
Works with all UCC staff members to respond to information requests and to enhance the value and use of the information for all development programs, including creating analytical reports to assist staff in assessing their program results.
Direct responsibility for all development systems and systems services in order to meet short and long range goals and objectives of the development office.
Process, reconcile, and transmit donations and pledges that come in on a daily basis accurately and in a timely manner.
Develop policies and procedures to assure the accuracy and quality of constituent information (data integrity).
Plan and execute the full implementation of the current development database system. Optimize use of its functionalities to support fundraising and constituent relations goals.
Work with program officers and UCC staff to identify their philanthropic information needs.
Establish strategies and plans for the maintenance, use and development of philanthropic database.
Work with program directors to establish and maintain donor acknowledgement services and timely reporting on gifts and to maintain strong donor relations.
Develop and implement user training classes to encourage and support the needs of end-users.
Work with the UCC’s CARD staff and Financial Services staff to ensure that appropriate information is shared among administrative systems in compliance with industry practice and institutional policy and to ensure adequate support in system administration.
Supervise staff in providing systems and user support. Identify and create areas of expertise and growth opportunities for staff.
Use philanthropy database and report writing software to retrieve, analyze and manipulate data related to all aspects of the philanthropy program and use statistics to evaluate current giving programs and support the development of future giving opportunities (data analytics).
Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
A college degree in a related field or equivalent experience, or a combination of academic study and experience.
Experience in the philosophy and practice of philanthropy in the non-profit sector and demonstrated ability to work in the area of leadership gifts
An understanding of database systems as tools to develop strategies for future growth opportunities.
An understanding of the interface of database reporting and query capacities, along with an understanding of relational database functions.
Commitment to and theological understanding of mission, stewardship and philanthropy.
Understanding of the polity and structures of the United Church of Christ.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and collegially as well as independently.
Demonstrated written and oral English language skills.
Extensive experience in Raiser’s Edge and Raiser’s Edge deployment across broad systems.
Well organized and detail-oriented.
Self-starter and ability to prioritize work.
Team player with high degree of flexibility.
Desire and sensitivity to work in diverse racial, ethnic, cultural and religious settings with commitment to diversity in the workplace as well as in one’s understanding of mission.
Ability to maintain and properly handle confidential or sensitive information.
Knowledge of the United Church of Christ a plus.
Limited travel within the United States.
5 years of experience as Raiser’s Edge system administrator in broad-based philanthropic setting.
