Sr. Service Agent (Non-DOT) - USPS

To provide accurate information and assistance to customers, which includes responding to inquires, problem resolution and selling of company services. To perform administrative support functions necessary for efficient operations.


Traces packages and informs customer and customer service department of disposition; calls all customers with "hold at location" packages.

Types or otherwise prepares various reports. Operates necessary office machines in performance of duties; maintains supply and inventory of customer materials.

Maintains and audits airbills, records and files; prepares vendor bills for management authorization.

Performs monetary transactions involving cash, credit cards and checks.

Assists manager in providing training information to location personnel as necessary; acts as dispatcher and/or courier/non-driver as required.

Enters data into computer terminal by keying alphabetic and numeric information; datacomms pertinent information such as missorts and overgoods to the regional office and hq as appropriate. Operates cosmos, kiac, timekeeping, vagis and revenue systems including input (i.e. airbill data time cards, package traces) and generates reports.

Prepares manifests for international flights which include assembling manifests and all necessary paperwork for customs purposes. (These duties may be required in locations where import/export freight is being processed through customs.)

Prepares necessary documentation for movement of goods in-bond, transit air cargo manifest, etc. (These duties may be required in locations where import/export freight is being processed through customs.)

Enters air waybills into COSMOS/KIAC computer system, which includes all information supplied on air waybill, charges, etc. (These duties may be required in locations where import/export freight is being processed through customs.)

Checks all paperwork before releasing freight to trucking companies. Checks for customs clearance paperwork, delivery order pick-up from broker and any other pertinent documents necessary to pick up shipment. (These duties may be required in locations where import/export freight is being processed through customs.)

Position Requirements


High school diploma/G.E.D.

Ability to operate computer terminal.

Ability to lift 75 lbs.

Ability to maneuver packages of any weight above 75 lbs.  With appropriate equipment and/or assistance from another person.             

Good human relations and communication skills


Fingerprinting may be required for positions that have access to the U.S. Mail and SIDA. In addition, employees applying to designated facilities requiring U.S. Postal Service clearance must have resided in the U.S. for at least 5 years prior to application date, unless the period for foreign residence was due to active duty in the U.S. uniformed military services; trailing spouse or dependent of someone working for the U.S. government (military or civilian); missionary; student attending school in a foreign country; Peace Corps participant; employee of a U.S. based employer/company or other extraordinary circumstances.  An individual who falls into one of the categories above may provide a letter of recommendation from his employer(s) and/or criminal history report, with translation from the country where he resided.  Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 seeking positions that handle or have access to the United States Postal Service (USPS) product must provide evidence of registration with the Selective Service or a Status Letter from Selective Service approving an exemption.  In addition, all applicants/employees must provide proof of citizenship or legal work status authorizing the individual to work in the United States.   If you are a non - U.S. citizen, you must  provide your Alien or Admission Number and/or Permanent Resident Card for USPS clearance to be granted.  If an applicant/employee cannot provide the above information, he/she will not be considered to work at a FedEx Express postal location.
