What We Are Looking For:

NCU is currently seeking a dynamic individual to become part of our Academic team as an Academic Reviewer

This position is responsible for (a) supporting university-wide academic quality requirements of the dissertation programs at NCU through the detailed review of doctoral milestone documents, (b) supporting the implementation of university-wide research policies, and (c) providing research assistance, guidance, and support to NCU staff, dissertation chairs, and doctoral students.

 
Position Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reviews milestone documents in all doctoral programs with the purpose of ensuring academic quality relative to critical thinking, methods, design, analytics, APA formatting, and required content.
  • Collaborates with the Graduate School on systemic research and dissertation concerns.
  • Provides support for the development of and oversight on university-wide research initiatives
  • Provides detailed responses on Request for Clarification forms to dissertation chairs.
  • Advises the Graduate School on the overall academic quality of Concept Papers, Dissertation Proposals and Dissertation Manuscripts.
  • Provides research design and analytics consulting to both Learners and Faculty Mentors.
  • Provides other duties relative to the goals of the Graduate School at the discretion of the Dean.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Extensive knowledge of research methods
  • Extensive knowledge of research design and analytics
  • Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative analytics software.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Knowledge of the American Psychological Association (APA) writing style.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
  • Skill in managing ambiguity in the review process.
  • Skill in operating equipment, such as personal computer, fax, copier, phone system.
  • Ability to handle a diversity of details in order to make informed and responsive decisions on matters that impact the Faculty Mentors, Learners and review processes.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to think critically, and respond to Mentors and other pertinent constituencies.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Doctoral degree from a regionally accredited institution, with substantive subsequent focus on research methods, design, and assessment.
  • Demonstrated record of research, scholarly publications, or a clear indication of potential for success in these areas required.
  • Must be able to demonstrate evidence of substantial course work in and/or field experience with research methodology, designs, and analytics.
  • Proficiency with personal computer applications is required.
  • Experience with dissertation students is preferred.
