What We Are Looking For:

NCU is currently seeking a dynamic individual to become part of our School of Marriage and Family Sciences team as a PhD MFT Program Director

Responsibilities for the position of PhD Program Director will be allocated as follows:  50% program direction, 50% core teaching.   Program direction responsibilities include fulfilling all required responsibilities as outlined by COAMFTE accreditation standards.  The Program Director is responsible for oversight and support of the MFT PhD program, including but not limited to: addressing student and faculty concerns and ideas for program improvement, working with the director of curriculum to ensure the curriculum maintains a high standard within the field of MFT, overseeing the applicant evaluations process, clinical experience requirements, research and dissertation work, and graduation requirements, and ensuring that our cycle of assessment is used to ensure continuous improvement. The Program Director is the main point of contact for all COAMFTE accreditation related matters.

Core Faculty teaching responsibilities focus on teaching core courses in the MFT doctoral programs.  This position is designed to be a virtual position, relocation to the Prescott Valley, Arizona area in not required. 

 
Position Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist and support daily activities related to the MFT PhD Degree Program including working with School faculty, administration, and staff (fulltime and part-time teaching faculty, MFT academic advisors, and/or other team members)
  • Assist with the development and implementation of goals and strategies related to the PhD-MFT program that are consistent with School operational needs
  • Participate in the development and managing a quality assessment program within the PhD-MFT program
  • Provides training in clinical and MFT issues to Academic Advisors, Enrollment Advisors, and other University staff as needed
  • Oversees the applicant evaluation process, including review of applications and conducting applicant interviews in collaboration with other MFT Faculty to make admissions decisions
  • Responds to student questions and concerns promoted beyond Academic Advisor level
  • Pursues and maintains COAMFTE accreditation for the PhD-MFT program
  • Explore development of a DMFT degree program.
  • Establishes measurable program outcomes and review programs to evaluate compliance with accreditation standards, identifies program strengths and challenges, and designs and implements methods of addressing identified challenges
  • Develops and follows a strategic planning cycle for the PhD-MFT program
  • Works with the Marketing Department in the preparation of informational materials, events, and other marketing efforts related to promoting the PhD-MFT program to ensure that all literature, exhibiting, marketing, etc. is accurate and aligned with strategic planning, values, etc.
  • Maintains professional development through membership and participation with state, regional, and national associations, presentations at professional conferences, and continued involvement in academic and clinical research leading to scholarly publications
  • Maintains an ongoing clinical practice which may include client contact, supervision, licensing, and continuing education
  • Participates as a member of the leadership team for the School of Marriage and Family Sciences
  • Participates in University committees and completes additional assignments at the discretion of the Dean, the Provost, and the President, as needed.
  • Teaches core courses in the doctoral programs within the school.
  • Exercises academic freedom in covering course content and learning outcomes, in accordance with University policy, procedure and curriculum.
  • Performs all educational services in accordance with Northcentral's policy and procedures, the Family Education Rights to Privacy Act, Northcentral University's code of conduct, and all other state and federal laws.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of University policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of MFT doctoral level educational culture in an online environment.
  • Knowledge of MFT specialized (COAMFTE) accreditation.
  • Ability to apply strategic and program planning, program and curriculum planning, development, and evaluation, technology implementation
  • Ability to organize and direct work efforts and manage several competing priorities.
  • Skill in verbal and written communication, capability to receive and give direction.
  • Ability to communicate clearly to a variety of constituents in a diverse work environment.
  • Ability to communicate online including e-mail, chat rooms, videoconferencing and other technology based on communication media.
  • Ability to make presentations and represent the School of Marriage and Family Sciences and the doctoral MFT program in various media when called upon.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products, word processing tools such as insert comments, track changes and compare documents.
  • Skill in operating equipment, such as personal computer, fax, copier, phone system.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Doctoral degree in marriage and family therapy or a closely related profession from a regionally accredited institution (COAMFTE accreditation strongly preferred)
  • AAMFT Approved Supervisor required
  • Experience as a COAMFTE Site Visitor preferred and encouraged
  • Experience with the online delivery of higher education and associated support systems
  • Demonstrated teaching and service record in higher education
  • Experience supervising professional faculty and staff,  including planning, organizing, directing and evaluating on a daily basis
  • Experience with program development and evaluation preferred
  • Experience with curriculum development preferred
  • Demonstrated experience as a team leader
