What We Are Looking For:

NCU is currently seeking a dynamic individual to become part of our School of Business and Technology Management team as Director of Curriculum Development.

The Director of Curriculum Development manages activities related to the creation, maintenance, and delivery of School of Business and Technology Management curricula. The Director is responsible for the oversight of effective curricula that result in student achievement. The Director promotes academic growth and development by supervising the development and design of innovative, student-centered courses.  The Director of Curriculum Development collaborates with the Dean, Assistant Dean, Core Faculty, and Administrators to identify and execute innovative technologies and methodologies throughout the School of Business and Technology Management curriculum to support the mission and vision of Northcentral University.  The Director of Curriculum Development participates in the University’s overall curriculum planning, development, and evaluation. 

 
Position Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Direct curriculum improvement activities for the School of Business and Technology Management
  • Management at the Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral levels, with the exception of the research methods/dissertation curriculum.
  • Manage the development, evaluation, and revision of School of Business and Technology Management courses
  • Review new program content to ensure consistent and high quality delivery
  • Ensure existing courses are updated and refreshed on a consistent basis
  • Integrate new technology into courses to promote student engagement and learning
  • Participate in university curriculum initiatives
  • Provide curriculum innovation and direction
  • Supervise lead faculty and subject matter experts in the development of curriculum
  • Evaluate data related to student academic performance to determine needs for curricular change and improvements
  • Lead at least quarterly teleconferences with lead faculty to discuss curriculum initiatives
  • Participate in at least quarterly teleconferences with the other curriculum leaders in the university to share ideas and promote unity of curricular goals
  • Assist with updates of the University Catalog related to curriculum
  • Coordinate curriculum development workflows with the Instructional Design team
  • Interact with core faculty to meet compliance with specific accreditation and licensing requirements through course content
  • Communicate with the leadership team and stakeholders on curricular implementation and timeliness of changes
  • Manage the curriculum design and review process
  • Ensure courses contain learning outcomes to facilitate assessment of student learning and program effectiveness
  • Meet professional obligations through efficient work habits, meeting deadlines, coordinating resources and meetings in a timely manner.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Director of Curriculum Development supervises lead faculty and subject matter experts within the School of Business and Technology Management.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to design, develop, and evaluate curricula
  • Ability to handle a diversity of details in order to make informed and responsive decisions on matters that impact faculty, students, and review processes
  • Knowledge of assessment and accreditation (ACBSP preferred) procedures
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, and governing body regulations
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with a proven ability to provide timely, accurate information on a variety of academically oriented subjects to both internal and external constituents
  • Proficiency in the use of technology in the delivery of education
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions with several abstract and concrete variables
  • Ability to establish short- and long-term academic goals and objectives
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • Skill in operating equipment, such as personal computer, fax, copier, phone systems

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Doctoral degree (PhD preferred) in a business, administration, or technology management discipline from a regionally accredited institution
  • Online teaching experience required
  • Curriculum development experience required
  • Administrative or leadership experience in higher education preferred
