What We Are Looking For:

NCU is currently seeking a dynamic individual to become part of our Center for Faculty Excellence team as an Associate Director, Training.

Training Directors work with the Director of the Center for Faculty Excellence to educate, train, and coach, faculty and staff to ensure teaching excellence and faculty accountability. They serve as part of a team of experts in online instruction in general and the university’s approach to one-to-one teaching through feedback in particular and are co-leaders in the university’s continual efforts to improve the quality of faculty teaching. 

 
Position Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Create or assist in the creation of faculty training materials and courses
• Participate in hiring and supervising adjunct faculty for foundations and other courses
• Teach training courses for full-time faculty, adjunct faculty and coaches
• Supervise, guide, and train school reviewers and others involved in training and accountability
• Work with faculty responsible for curriculum and course design to ensure that all training and courses are delivered according to Northcentral University’s applied experiential learning model
• Write and edit articles for the CFE bi-weekly newsletter
• Participate in meetings, seminars, and training related to job responsibilities.
• Participate, as requested, in committees related to academic affairs, curriculum, and assessment.
• Design and participate in research studies and assessment plans
• Participate in CFE team meetings
• Work collegially with other CFE and CAE team members
• Collaborate with schools on all matters related to effective teaching and learning
• Collaborate with University and School leadership to develop new programs, review and revise existing programs, and develop changes to meet the needs of students; remain competitive in the marketplace; and ensure rigor, breadth, and best practices of the discipline and field of study.
• Ensure compliance with state, federal, and accreditation requirements and criteria.
• Carry out other tasks as directed by the CFE director


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervises or advises supervisors of Foundations Faculty, school reviewers, and other staff and faculty with roles in ensuring faculty accountability.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
• Skill in verbal and written communication.
• Skill in operating equipment, such as personal computer, fax, copier, phone systems.
• Ability to handle a diversity of details in order to make informed and responsive decisions on matters that impact adjunct faculty and students.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governing body regulations.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and training guides and courses.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to develop effective training and coaching relationships
• Ability to work on a collaborative cross-disciplinary team with the highest degree of collegiality


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Doctoral degree (PhD preferred) from a regionally accredited institution.
• Online teaching experience required.
• Educational research experience preferred
• Curriculum development experience preferred
• Training and supervision experience preferred
• Proficiency in the use of technology in the delivery of education.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills, with a proven ability to provide timely, accurate information on a variety of academically oriented subjects to both internal and external constituents.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  The physical requirements for performing the essential functions of this position require the employee to be able to:

• Sit, stand, kneel, walk and reach.
• Be able to lift, push, pull and/or move up to 20 pounds.
• Read a computer screen and written material.
• Write, type and use phone system.
