About the Organization Salem Community College is a public, two-year comprehensive associate degree granting institution located in southern New Jersey. Established by the Board of Chosen Freeholders in 1972, SCC is authorized to grant associate degrees (A.A., A.S., A.F.A. and A.A.S.) and certificates in over 40 liberal arts, business, practical nursing and technology programs of study. SCC is the only higher educational institution located in Salem County. SCC offers many of its noncredit career programs at its Salem Center which also houses the County's One-Stop Career Center. In addition, the College has three off-site instructional locations dedicated to specific programs.

Provides support to administration, faculty, and staff through effective management and maintenance of application resources for the College.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support for the institution’s third party administrative applications at all Salem Community College locations.
  • Administration, troubleshooting and maintenance of the institutional data systems.  Responsibilities include upgrade planning/implementation, installations, development testing, documentation, vendor relations, access control and product support.
  • Support time sensitive processes required for the college to effectively transition specific periods such as academic year-end, fiscal year end and term/semester roll.
  • Assist with planning and implementation of new institutional applications and related software systems utilizing project management processes as set forth by the college
  • Assist with the research, planning, development, documentation and implementation of the network infrastructure and related systems. 
  • Network and infrastructure administration including network users, groups, access control, data backup, topology, configurations, and printer management.
  • Maintain and administer the institutional telecommunications systems.  Including the troubleshooting of phone related issues, deployment of new systems/technologies, VoIP, and PBX administration.  Responsible for maintaining student email accounts, student self-service portal and the online help desk system.
  • Use, provide instruction to end users, and troubleshoot Microsoft and Apple operating systems, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Assist with the development and delivery of training initiatives for faculty, staff, and students in the use of college applications and related technology.
  • Direct and manage College IT-related projects, define project scope, goals and deliverables that support Institutional goals in collaboration with leadership and stakeholders, and develop project plans and associated communications documents.
  • Create and review information services guidelines, application and support procedure documentation and store in centralized repository.
  • Receive daily support duties through an online ticket management system. Update the status of each ticket in the system, schedule and keep appointments with end users and keep users informed of the status of each problem through to problem resolution
  • Provide input for the three-year Information Services Plan.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements


Demonstrated experience in the administration of institutional related computing and applications resources


Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent  certifications and/or experience

Interpersonal Skills

Strong and effective interpersonal and communication skills.

Technical Skills

Working knowledge of current and emerging computer hardware and software, including relevant ERP systems and all Microsoft Office products. 

Other Skills

Knowledge of institutional Accounting Software, Database Management, and Windows-based Applications.  Basic knowledge of Drupal, HTML, XML, JavaScript/VBScript (client-side scripting), ASP/PHP (server-side scripting).  Project Management - Ability to work independently and to schedule and prioritize work with limited direction from a supervisor. 

Physical Requirements

The position requires constant mobility throughout the campus, which may include walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items and driving an automobile, etc. on occasion. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

Work Environment

Regular exposure to favorable conditions such as those found in a normal office.  Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes some nights and weekends.
