Construction Superintendent- Nisku, Alberta


Summary of Duties (Duties include, but are not limited to the following):

  • Documentation: Receiving, distribution and control of project documentation (i.e. drawings, BOMs, schematics, wiring diagrams) for use within the construction yard.
  • Resources: Planning and coordinating internal and third party trade resources such as mechanics, welders, electricians, hydraulic technicians etc.
  • Planning: Contributing to detailed project execution plans and schedules, including procedures, forecasting resources, and ensuring yard space needs are met for the project(s);
  • Purchasing: Tracking and reporting on project labor, materials, and yard supplies for each project
  • Material Control: Coordinating material control of project materials and supplies, including management of appropriate facilities, and procedures
  • QC: Overseeing Quality Control of work completed internally as well as 3rd party manufacturers including onsite inspection, and reporting results and proposing corrective actions to the Project Manager. May also involve coordinating 3rd party inspection services as required;
  • Reporting: Providing regular progress reports to the Project Manager(s), and maintaining clear ongoing project communications with stakeholders;
  • Preparing project status reports;
  • Other related project activities.


Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledgeable regarding the construction, assembly, rig up, commissioning, and operation of drilling and service rigs, and associated equipment
  • Familiarity with Savanna rig designs and processes will be considered an asset
  • Experience with and capable of interpreting technical documentation such as fabrication drawings, schematics, etc.
  • Experienced in planning and management of internal and third party trades
  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office and MS. Project
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Good organizational and time management skills;
  • Strong work ethic;
  • Thorough, with consistent attention to detail;
  • Ability to work independently as well as to collaborate effectively with the full cross-section of personnel within Savanna and other organizations.


Education and Experience:

  • 10+ years of relevant operations and rig construction experience
  • Experience specific to drilling and well-servicing equipment design as well as knowledge of associated manufacturers and equipment suppliers.
  • 10+ years of relevant operations and rig construction experience
