Part-Time Weekend Academic Administrator

About the Organization Salem Community College is a public, two-year comprehensive associate degree granting institution located in southern New Jersey. Established by the Board of Chosen Freeholders in 1972, SCC is authorized to grant associate degrees (A.A., A.S., A.F.A. and A.A.S.) and certificates in over 40 liberal arts, business, practical nursing and technology programs of study. SCC is the only higher educational institution located in Salem County. SCC offers many of its noncredit career programs at its Salem Center which also houses the County's One-Stop Career Center. In addition, the College has three off-site instructional locations dedicated to specific programs.

Salem Community College is fully accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.

Acts as resource for instructors and students when credit classes are in session on weekends. This position is on call and works only as assigned.

Position Requirements

Major Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Act as Academic Administrator when credit classes are in session on Friday evenings and/or Saturdays (and weekday evenings) as assigned.
  • Check on classes in session.
  • Respond to requests for assistance from instructors and students.
  • Direct instructors and students to appropriate College resources.
  • Report issues as appropriate to Public Safety and Executive Staff members.
  • As directed by the Associate Dean of Academic affairs, observe adjunct faculty in the classroom and complete a Classroom Observation form.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Knowledge and Skills:


Experience                              Experience working in a high school or college either as an instructor or as an administrator. Experience supervising and evaluating instructors/teachers. Experience with diverse student populations.


            Education                                Master’s degree


Interpersonal Skills                 Ability to work effectively with administration, social service personnel, instructors, other staff members and a diverse client population.


Other Skills                             Must possess excellent communication and customer service skills. Must be able to work well independently and under pressure.
