The primary role of this position is to work closely with system users and projects teams to analyze business requirements in order to create project test scenarios and provide feedback on the actual system implementation of the business logic. The position will create test plans, test cases, and will participate in user acceptance testing to ensure that the highest quality products are released to production.


The position is also responsible executing multiple testing techniques and identify and track defects through the entire software development life cycle to provide certification for production release.   Oversight of user acceptance testing to ensure integrity and accuracy of data within tolerances, managing system issues resolution with vendors, system enhancements, and version or service pack deployment.



Learning and Development

Develop, document, administer, and maintain protocol for:

  • Ongoing training designed by supervisor and the training manager
  • Annual or longer-term individualized training programs including position specific workshops, seminars, and certification
  • Regular review of individual progress plan with supervisor
  • Assistance to staff for diagnoses and resolution of technical problems
  • Minimum required annual training includes: Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), security awareness, and core banking system forum. All efforts will be made to conduct training online or via conference call. The annual schedule is subject to additional or substitute training.


Governance, Compliance, and Risk Management

Develop, document, administer, and maintain analyses for:

  • Work with stakeholders to enhance service, sales, and efficiencies through the thoughtful adoption of technology and/or the improvement of business practices
  • Make recommendations to management regarding the need to expand capacity or improve the credit union's competitive advantage
  • Provide testing time frame estimates for large and small scale projects
  • Provide regular reports to senior management
  • Technology Department liaison with extra-departmental projects, information, training, and technical concerns
  • Collaborate with project managers and sponsors to determine project testing scope
  • Identify and establish scope and parameters of requirements analysis on a project-by-project basis to define project impact, outcome criteria, and metrics
  • Research, review, and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing requirements gathering processes and develop strategies for enhancing or further leveraging these processes
  • Produce enhancement proposals documentation and presentations to management


Operational Oversight

Develop, document, administer, and maintain oversight for:

  • Design, document and execute test framework and procedures
  • Conduct test entry reviews and record and document test results
  • Manage all aspects of User Acceptance Testing
  • Investigate, recommend, implement and manage testing tools
  • Coordinate with the Projects and Development teams to drive product quality
  • Participate in business requirements documentation reviews to extract test scenarios
  • Work closely with Application Development Group to promote software quality standards
  • Work closely with the Projects Group to replicate customer issues and application use cases
  • Plan requirements for loading and testing new versions of programs
  • Plan, execute, track, and document system enhancement internal and external usage
  • Translate and map necessary business solutions with credit union departments and co-workers in the Technology department, technology vendors, and others who can assist in meeting planned objectives
  • Work with credit union training manager so employees, subject matter experts (SME), or other trainers are trained in the use of any new or upgraded software
  • Write and maintains functional specifications for new or modified business systems
  • Develop, coordinate, and implement plans to test business and functional processes during system development and quality assurance training
  • Consult with business unit management and personnel to obtain additional information during system development and evaluate alternatives
  • Manage and track the status of requirements throughout the project lifecycle; enforce and redefine as necessary to functional and business specifications
  • Create or assist others in the writing of user documentation, instructions, and procedures
  • Monitor and document post-implementation problems and revision requests.
  • Communicate changes, enhancements, and modifications of business requirements– verbally or through written documentation – to project managers, sponsors, and other stakeholders so that issues and solutions are understood.



Minimum required annual training includes: Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), security awareness, privacy policy, workplace diversity SQL forum, and core banking system forum.



Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that the employee gets along with members, vendors, co-workers, and management.



This job does not have supervisory responsibilities.


Position Requirements

Qualified candidate will have the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of experience and education
  • 3+ years of experience testing software in a structured setting, financial industry experience preferred
  • ISTQB (ASTQB) or CSTE Certification preferred but not required
  • Understanding of application development and software development life cycle concepts for both waterfall and agile projects
  • Broad experience designing and maintaining automated tests
  • Experience with standard software tools for test case management and defect tracking
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the organization’s core business process, operations, and primary software applications, preferred DNA (open solutions) core processing experience as well as online and mobile banking
  • Proven experience with business and technical requirements analysis, elicitation, modeling, verification, and methodology development
