IT Certification and Accreditation Specialist

Essential Duties

  • Conducts all certification and accreditation (C&A) procedures for DoD, DOE and DTRA-specific systems.
  • Ensures Plans of Action and Milestones are completed on time; assesses risks of Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts to command systems.
  • Makes entries in Vulnerability Management System.
  • Reviews DoD, IC and DOE guidance; prepares/updates policy, procedures and briefings for Government approval.
  • Manages three-person team and on-call support after duty hours.
  • Participates in security assistance visits to subordinate elements.
  • Assists the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) Policy in the development, coordination implementation of Information Assurance.
  • Collaborates with the subject matter experts to develop, coordinate and publish DTRA security procedures documents.
  • Recommends options for intra- and inter- Agency coordination. 

Position Requirements


  • DIACAP, NIACAP, Information Assurance Vulnerability Management System, DoD Vulnerability Management System, SIPRNet, NIPRNet, JWICS, NIST Risk Management Framework, advanced knowledge of networks, intrusion detection, intrusion prevention, anti-virus and firewall devices/software, and network and mobile devices.
  • Guidance for protecting Personally Identifiable Information.
  • Excellent writer, planner and briefer; works well in teams and alone.
  • Sound manager.
  • Conducted DIACAP of classified and unclassified DoD systems. 
  • TS/SCI



  • B.S. degree.
  • CISSP or equivalent current certification.
  • Years of technical experience: 8.
  • Years of management experience: 2.



  • CAP.
  • MCSE.
  • B.S. degree in Computer Science.
  • DTRA experience.
