Description

The Program Manager will serve as a direct manager of the Data Center. Requires the  following experience;  a minimum five (5) years of Program Management experience working as the lead Director or Manager  for a complex  Data Center of similar size and scope (supervising staff of over 60 FTEs),  knowledge of server and storage  networks, virtualization, blade technologies, VMware and process management. Should also possess a PMP certification or have equivalent Project Management experience.

  • Build, manage, train, and retain a skilled team
  • Ensure availability, security, and reliability of systems and networks in the data center.
  • Develop short and long term data center vision and strategies
  • Data center capacity planning
  • Develop and contribute to department and company customer service plans and goals
  • Direct the operational relationships with vendors and service providers including contract negotiation
  • Organize data center monitoring and incident response for production services, and provide direct leadership in the event of service outages
  • Work with engineering to maintain and enhance infrastructure and policies for deployment of services and content into the production environment
  • Define staff development goals and service performance metrics
  • Define and measure process metrics for service design and delivery
  • Develop, document, implement, and ensure the adherence to operational procedures and expectations
  • Partner with engineering leaders, business owners, and help drive progress on strategic initiatives
  • Design and interpret metrics to measure effectiveness of data center tools
  • Ensure monitoring, reliability, and redundancy of all servers and network elements
  • Maintain updated inventory of all IT infrastructure elements, and manage a proactive upgrade process to ensure optimal functioning of infrastructure
  • Review and if necessary implement network and server monitoring applications to proactively identify potential issues
  • Ensure compliance with IT regulatory standards
  • Drive provisioning, systems monitoring, and alerting infrastructures, capacity planning process, large scale data center configuration management tools, and other aspects of maintaining, managing, optimizing growing data center infrastructures
  • Experience in identifying and automating repetitive, and error prone processes
  • Managing a 24x7x365 team, requiring on-call availability
  • Implement programs and initiatives that drive improvement, cost effectiveness, and optimization of resources within IT operations.
  • Oversee all people management activities for IT operations including staffing, planning, performance management, training, and career development.

 

 
Position Requirements
  • Minimum of ten (10) years technical and data center experience across a broad range of IT disciplines and competencies.
  • Minimum of five (5) years in a senior management position leading 50 person teams in the operations of a complex, 24/7, data center, including technical leadership, and budget responsibility.
  • Ability to influence, train, mentor, and leverage the skills of others
  • Proven track record of data center visionary, innovations, and executions.
  • Operations experience including capacity planning and forecasting, risk management, including response and recover, and business continuity
  • Detail oriented and time management skills
  • Fluency in vendor/contract management, and solid negotiation skills
  • Proven ability to plan, forecast, and manage financial budgets
  • Detailed technical knowledge of modern datacenter technologies such as: virtualization, SAAS, PAAS, IAAS, operating systems, local and wide area networking, compute, storage, DCIM, GSLB, database, data protection and retention, configuration management, automated provisioning and orchestration, run book and process automation, authentication and authorization, telephony and unified communications
  • Detailed understanding of current data center best practices, design principals, power systems (UPS, ATS, PDU and Power strips and whips.  Network connectivity standards, rack design, thermodynamics, fire suppression, and cabling standards (copper and fiber)
  • Experience with change, upgrade, and expansions management in live, production data centers
  • Service analysis and reporting
  • Experience with Disaster Recovery planning and execution
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with implementing information technology infrastructure library (ITIL) best practices in a service management/service delivery organization 
  • Ability to delivery difficult messages to leadership teams driving results and tracking issues to closure
  • Strong business acumen with ability to work and communicate with all levels of the organization
  • Excellent collaboration, presentation, and influencing skills
  • Strong team-building skills and team facilitation skills that include bringing people together from various disciplines, experience, geographies, and work levels to work together toward a common goal
  • Knowledge of IT processes and the system development lifecycle (SDLC)
