Opportunities to Volunteer at Ohio's Hospice

Description

Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some stay for a while, leave footprints on our hearts, and we are never, ever the same.” -- written by Flavia Weedn

As a volunteer at Ohio's Hospice of Dayton, Hospice of Butler & Warren Counties, Community Care Hospice, Hospice of Miami County and Community Mercy Hospice you have the opportunity to leave footprints on the hearts of the patients and families. Through this process, you may discover footprints left on your own heart.

Volunteers at Hospice of Dayton/Butler and Warren Counties are about comfort, hugs, smiles, listening, and care in the 32 positions serving patients.

Becoming a volunteer is a simple 5 step process:

Step 1 - A willingness to help make a difference in the lives of patients and families

Step 2 - Call (937) 256-9507 ext.1161 to request an application packet or apply online. Give the reference froms and pre-addressed envelopes to people not related to you who have personal knowledge of your qualifications for a volunteer position.

Step 3 - Attend a 2-hour Orientation orientation at 324 Wilmington Avenue. A staff member will call you to schedule. Certain positions will require an additional 2-hour orientation called Caring Angels.

Step 4 - You will be fingerprinted for a criminal background check at no cost to you and we will conduct a two-step TB test. If you cannot take the Mantoux skin test, you will need to provide a copy of your x-ray results.
