Description

The Director, Data and Analytics is a pivotal leadership role responsible for the strategic direction, technical oversight, and operational execution of Thrive South Side’s data infrastructure, business intelligence, and partner reporting suites. Reporting directly to the Vice President of People and Operations, this leader serves as both a technical strategist and data business partner. The Director translates complex healthcare datasets into actionable insights for internal governance and executive leadership, Managed Care Organizations (MCOs), South Side health systems, and a broad network of community and clinical partners.

The Director leads the Data and Analytics department, supervising management-level staff and guiding the technical team in delivering high-impact analytics products. In addition to overseeing data warehouse operations and healthcare interoperability pipelines, this leader spearheads MCO data strategy, ensures rigorous reporting quality assurance, and presents data narratives directly to C-suite and partner stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership and Partner Engagement This leader serves as the primary data business partner to executive leadership, translating strategic organizational goals into long-term analytical roadmaps. The Director delivers compelling, executive-level data presentations and facilitates high-stakes discussions with external partners and clinical stakeholders. Internally, this role champions enterprise data literacy and stewardship initiatives, supporting formal development pathways across the organization.

Advanced Analytics and Payer Strategy Acting as the organization’s subject matter expert on Medicaid MCO data architectures, the Director guides analytics staff in establishing enduring methodologies for payer reporting, medical expense tracking, and contract performance. This includes partnering with health plan technical teams to translate payer data requirements, incentive arrangements, and value-based care contracts into scalable technical workflows. The Director oversees analytical models evaluating total cost of care, longitudinal utilization, and patient empanelment metrics, bridging raw payer feeds with strategic clinical decision-making.

Data Engineering and Interoperability The Director guides the strategic architecture, expansion, and day-to-day reliability of the in-house Data Lakehouse, ensuring seamless data sharing across partner organizations and the Health Information Exchange (HIE). This involves overseeing ingestion, harmonization, and transformation pipelines for clinical EHR/EMR feeds, state eligibility files, MCO encounter data, and community referral platforms. A key component of this pillar is collaborating with technology vendors, external health systems, and HIE networks to optimize data integration, resolve bottlenecks, and ensure system reliability.

Data Governance and Quality Assurance Ensuring strict compliance with HIPAA and HITECH, the Director enforces role-based access controls (RBAC) and privacy standards within the data warehouse and reporting platforms. This leader partners with IT and operations to ensure all data architecture aligns with the organization's broader security frameworks and compliance certifications. Additionally, the Director drives rigorous quality control standards across all outward-facing analytics, ensuring visual presentation integrity, data accuracy, and cohort validation across all customized dashboards and partner deliverables.
