Program Description Children's Residential Treatment Center (CRTC) provides secure, intensive psychiatric residential treatment for seriously emotionally disturbed children and adolescents ages 11 to 17. Clients typically have significant problems in multiple areas of functioning and a history of prior mental health interventions.

Residential Counselor – Full-time day/evening

Children’s Residential Treatment Center (CRTC), located in Minneapolis, is seeking a full-time Residential Counselor to work during the day and evening hours. A Residential Counselor participates as a critical member of an interdisciplinary team of professionals and provides direct services to teens with psychiatric needs. This position is responsible for working directly with clients to provide for their care, welfare, safety, and protection as they take their journey to undergo treatment in accordance with the mission’s philosophy and program goals. Residential Counselor’s implement appropriate treatment plans and goals that are suitable to the age and functionality of the individual as well as document a client’s progress throughout their stay. VOA-MN is a trauma-informed care agency therefore, we are seeking staff that understand the prevalence and impact of trauma and embrace the trauma informed care philosophy.

This is an entry-level position that provides opportunities for professional development in the areas of applied behavior analysis, human services and working with children with mental health needs. Starting salary is $12.00 per hour.

Position Requirements

*High School Diploma/GED
*BA/BS in Social Service Field preferred

Other Skills/Requirements:
*Behavior management; limit setting
*Crisis intervention techniques
*Valid drivers license with a good driving record (motor vehicle record check required on final candidates)
*Related experience with adolescents in residential/hospital setting preferred
*Must be 21 years of age
