TOGETHER WE DARE

Recruiting directors to join the board of Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital

At Holland Bloorview, we believe that the most meaningful change happens when people come together with a shared sense of purpose.

That's the spirit behind Together We Dare—our bold campaign to shape the future of childhood disability and build a world where every child has the opportunity to dream, play, belong and thrive. Together, we dare to challenge barriers, advance groundbreaking research, transform healthcare, and create a more inclusive future for children and youth with disabilities.

As Canada's hospital for children with disabilities and developmental differences, we are helping redefine what is possible through excellent care, innovation, education, research and advocacy.

The Opportunity

We are seeking exceptional leaders to join our board of directors and help guide our next chapter of impact. It’s more than a governance role.

As a board member, you will join a distinguished and respected group of leaders from across business, healthcare, technology, academia, philanthropy and the community, united in a commitment to shape the future of children and youth with disabilities and developmental differences.

Together, board members play an important role in creating a more inclusive future for the children, youth and families we serve. They provide governance and stewardship to an organization that is internationally recognized for innovation, client and family centred care, research excellence and system leadership.

Serving on the Holland Bloorview board offers a unique opportunity to contribute your expertise alongside accomplished changemakers while helping shape the future of childhood disability in Canada and beyond.

We welcome candidates who bring a strong commitment to inclusion, diversity, equity, accessibility and anti-racism.

Of particular interest are candidates with specialized experience in one or more of the following:

  • AI Implementation and Technology
  • Systems Collaboration and Partnerships (health and/or other sectors)

The Task

As a board member, your primary role is governance, with key responsibilities including:

  • Strategic Oversight: Help shape and approve Holland Bloorview's long-term vision and strategic plan.
  • Fiduciary Duty: Review financial statements and ensure appropriate stewardship of organizational resources.
  • Ambassadorship: Serve as an active advocate for Holland Bloorview's mission and impact in the broader community.
  • Resource Development: Support fundraising efforts through personal philanthropy and/or by leveraging networks and relationships.

Commitment

  • Term: Two 3-year terms
  • Meetings: 6–8 Board meetings annually, including one full-day Board Retreat
  • Time Commitment: Approximately 1–3 hours per meeting, in addition to Committee participation
