About the Organization Alaska Center for the Performing Arts has been a downtown landmark and icon for over 30 years. We have served as an arts entertainment hub for the community with a diverse season delivered by our 9 resident companies and other presenters.

Description

Maintenance Mechanic

The Maintenance Mechanic of the physical plant represents the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts (ACPA) as a frontline team member modeling safe work practices while providing stellar customer service to both internal and external clients. This position exhibits consistently positive communication and attitude which embody ACPA core values: welcoming, professionalism, accessible, versatile and engaging. Building support includes the daily operation and oversight of building systems and safety programs related to HVAC, controls, fire, mechanical and electrics. The Maintenance Mechanic assures a safe, reliable environment for staff, patrons, performers and clients.

The Maintenance Mechanic performs inspections and makes minor to moderately complex repairs to building systems, structures, and equipment such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems and door hardware to assure their safe and efficient function. Additionally, the incumbent monitors performance of contractors and suppliers. Stores and issues materials. Operates power and hand tools in performing maintenance duties. Repairs custodial equipment. Performs welding as needed. All duties are performed under the direction of the Facility Manager, requiring consistent and regular communication.

SUCCESS FACTORS
Successful candidates will possess five years’ experience with building maintenance and construction. Technical skills include two years’ experience performing inspection of equipment and systems and exercise initiative, without relying on specific instructions. This includes producing written reports of inspections and modifications made. Must be able to read and write in English with solid verbal and written communication skills to provide feedback and instruction. High School graduate or GED required. Clean driving record (5 years) and background check required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF POSITION:

Stand, sit, and walk.

Stoop, kneel, crouch and climb.

Lift or move 50 lbs.; move 100 lbs.; occasionally move 150 lbs.
