Description

Aunt Millie’s Bakeries, a family-owned business since 1901, is a leader in the wholesale baking and route distribution industry. The company is headquartered in Fort Wayne, Indiana and produces bread and other bakery products which are distributed throughout the United States, primarily in the Midwest.

As our Manufacturing Engineer you will be responsible for developing and implementing enhanced manufacturing methods to improve quality, reduce cost, improve safety, and reduce lead times utilizing lean concepts and tools. The Manufacturing Engineer will also provide manufacturing and process engineering support to the Operations organization.

Specific responsibilities include:

 

  • Drive process improvements to ensure the organization is utilizing best practices related to manufacturing
  • Support manufacturing to improve efficiency
  • Initiate and implement cost reduction programs related to process technology and improvement
  • Assist in specification, purchase and installation of new machines and equipment
  • Create documentation for new manufacturing processes and engineering procedures
  • Lead and conduct process audits to ensure process discipline is consistent with guidelines
  • Train employees when new processes and procedures are introduced
  • Establish maintenance and safety procedures for plant equipment and machinery
  • Recommend procedural and/or equipment changes as necessary to improve capabilities
  • Participate in, lead, and sponsor various task teams or problem-solving teams
  • Experience with continuous improvement methods such as Six Sigma (DMAIC methodology), Lean (Kaizen events, Value Stream Mapping, 5S, etc.) preferred
  • Programming and troubleshooting of Allen Bradley PLC based systems preferred
  • Full-time 
 
Position Requirements
  • 3+ years in a management or leadership role.
  • 5 or more years of experience in an industrial environment, preferably in food manufacturing.
  • Proficiency in MS OffiWe offerce and SAP systems preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience required.
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation communication skills.
