At Applied Industrial Technologies, the Service Center Manager role is vital to the success of our organization.

Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will manage the day-to-day operations of the Service Center pre-sale, point of sale, and post sale supporting our customers and outside sales team. You will have responsibility for customer service / inside sales, warehouse / stockroom, shipping/receiving, and support for the direct outside sales team. Your mission is to continually improve Service Center standards.

  • Manage internal service center operations to meet/exceed P&L objectives
  • Champion development of leadership competencies that drive individual and team goals
  • Meet customer and shipment metrics, including time to fill, expediting orders, quoting
  • Develop, implement, and monitor programs and activities related to product promotion and inside sales, office and warehouse functions, and customer service – and measure the results
  • Hire, train, develop service center personnel
  • Assist account managers in the identification, acquisition, and retention of customers
  • Manage inventory, receivables, expenses, profit/loss accounting, review and complete monthly reports; oversee petty cash balancing
  • Ensure customer relations are maintained at a high level
  • Utilize key metrics to evaluate and recommend best practices for customer service operations
  • Create a positive, dynamic, and fun work environment
 

Position Requirements
  • 1 -3+ years of customer service/sales and inventory control
  • 1 year of sales experience.
  • 1 - 2 years of industrial sales experience.
  • 1+ years of sales experience
  • Some team lead / coaching experience
  • Good understanding of financial and accounting concepts
  • Computer proficiency & ability to quickly learn our ordering system
  • High school or equivalent

Preferred:

  • Industrial sales / distribution experience
  • Service center experience
  • Proven supervisory experience
  • Familiarity with ISO & Quality Management principles
  • Bachelor’s degree

Desired characteristics:

  • Desire / ability to quickly learn new processes and systems
  • Proven leadership, negotiation, and communication (both oral and written) skills
  • Solid analytical and problem solving skills
