SUMMARY
First Security Bank is seeking a professional, energetic, and team-oriented individual to join our team as a Mortgage Originator! If you are passionate about serving our Arkansas communities and want to be part of a dynamic, service-driven team, we encourage you to apply!

In this role, you will evaluate, authorize, and recommend approval of Secondary Market mortgage loans while advising borrowers on their financial condition and appropriate repayment methods. This position requires on-site work.

QUALIFICATIONS | EDUCATION | EXPERIENCE | SKILLS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to execute each essential duty satisfactorily. The items listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or abilities necessary for this position.

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree required, emphasis in business finance preferred.
  • NMLS required.
  • 2-3 years of Mortgage Originator experience highly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of accounting practices used to analyze client finances and evaluate how financial conditions influence available options.
  • Knowledge of real estate market in local area.
  • Proficiency with Encompass, Outlook, Word, Excel, typing, 10-key, and utilization of the internet is required.
  • Commitment to demonstrating First Security's Core 5 values with customers and coworkers.

HOURS OF AVAILABILITY: Regularly Scheduled Hours/Week: 40 (+) hours per week | Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm |*Extended working hours may be required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Generate profitable, high-quality residential mortgage loans by building and maintaining strong personal relationships with community members and clients.
  2. Analyze applicants' financial status and credit history to identify appropriate loan products, clearly explaining the advantages and disadvantages of available financial options.
  3. Ensure customers receive regular progress updates and remain informed throughout the origination, processing, appraisal, underwriting, and closing stages, in accordance with guidelines for both government-insured and privately insured mortgages.
  4. Calculate and explain loan payment structures, including loan amounts, interest rates, term lengths, amortization periods, and payment frequencies.
  5. Protect all customer information and bank operations through strict confidentiality.
  6. Operate computer software and equipment, telephone, scanner, and copier, and develop proficiency with internal banking systems.
  7. Maintain a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, punctual attendance, and the ability to work on-site with occasional extended hours when necessary.
  8. Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Possess sufficient mobility to work in a standard office setting. Perform repetitive hand, arm, wrist, and finger movements while handling currency, documents, and/or office equipment. Substantial time may be spent on the telephone, operating computers, reaching, sitting, and/or standing while occasionally stooping, kneeling, or crouching. The employee must have the ability to speak and hear well enough to carry on customer interactions, conversations, and presentations both in person and over telecommunications. Have near/far visual acuity to identify customers, currency, and reading materials in printed or electronic formats. The employee must occasionally lift and move up to 10 pounds. Ability to hold a valid driver's license with access to a vehicle that can be used for business travel purposes.

MENTAL DEMANDS
The duties of this position require strong independent problem-solving skills to manage multiple projects and their accurate and timely completion. Able to interact with and lead others in a calm and patient manner; maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in all situations. Able to analyze information, evaluate options, and make sound judgements in a timely manner. Strong mathematical competency related to currency, including adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. This position also requires the ability to read and interpret documents, draft instructions or presentations, and articulate complex information in written or oral form.
