Scottsdale Christian Academy (SCA) is a Christ-Centered covenant Christian school in metropolitan Phoenix, Arizona. SCA conducts pre-employment and drug screening for all positions which includes a criminal background check, verification of work history, academic credentials, licenses, and certifications. A Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card is also required.

The Upper School Technology Teacher is responsible for teaching foundational computer skills as well as computer science and cybersecurity coursework appropriate for middle and high school students from 6th - 12 grades. This role may include courses such as basic digital literacy, productivity tools, coding and programming fundamentals, computer science principles, networking basics, cybersecurity concepts, digital ethics, and responsible technology use.

We are seeking an individual who is passionate about Christian education, technology, and preparing students to be wise, ethical, and capable users and creators of technology. This teacher will equip students with practical skills, problem-solving abilities, and critical thinking while integrating a biblical worldview and ethical responsibility in a digital age.

REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL QUALITIES:

  • Education & Certification:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Education, or a related field from an accredited college is required; Master's Degree preferred.
    • State teaching certification and ACSI certification preferred.
    • Industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA ITF+, A+, Network+, Security+, Google IT Support, Microsoft, Cisco, or similar) are preferred but not required.
  • Experience:
    • Training in secondary education and/or computer science-related fields is required.
    • Prior teaching experience at the middle or high school level preferred.
    • Experience teaching computer skills, programming, or cybersecurity concepts preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Ability to design and implement engaging, age-appropriate lessons in basic computer skills, computer science, and cybersecurity.
    • Knowledge of common operating systems, productivity tools, learning platforms, and educational technology.
    • Ability to teach foundational coding and computational thinking using appropriate languages or platforms.
    • Understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals, digital citizenship, and ethical technology use.
    • Ability to build authentic, supportive relationships with upper school students.
    • Strong classroom management and supervisory skills.
    • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software; knowledge of FACTS a plus.
    • Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional growth and improvement.
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to traverse school grounds and lead students to safety in the event of an emergency.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Demonstrate deep knowledge of computer science, basic computing skills, and cybersecurity concepts and their real-world applications.
  • Integrate biblical truth, ethical decision-making, and responsible digital citizenship into instruction.
  • Teach assigned middle and high school courses using best practices, current research, and developmentally appropriate instructional strategies.
  • Provide instruction in areas such as digital literacy, keyboarding and productivity tools, programming fundamentals, problem-solving, data, networking basics, cybersecurity awareness, and online safety.
  • Promote student engagement through hands-on learning, projects, collaboration, and inquiry-based instruction.
  • Create and maintain a safe, respectful, and Christ-centered learning environment.
  • Monitor and manage student behavior in accordance with school policies, including appropriate enforcement of discipline.
  • Teach classes as assigned following the prescribed scope and sequence and schedule established by administration.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, learning outcomes, and student behavior.
  • Develop and adjust course syllabi, units, and assessments in alignment with curriculum guidelines and school goals.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and administration to support student learning and school initiatives.
  • Fulfill the professional development requirements provided by SCA to maintain school based ACSI certification.
