Position Summary

This is an exciting opportunity for an innovative and experienced Registered Behaviour Analyst to join the Holland Bloorview Inclusion team. The Inclusion programming is designed to empower children and youth by enhancing their well being, participation, decision making and socialization skills. We offer many therapeutic and goal-oriented programs and the successful candidate will lead the identification of goals and progress throughout these programs for each identified client. The successful candidate will support several program areas: seasonal programs including robotics, music, art and respite as well as summer camps. The successful candidate will contribute their clinical expertise to the development of group programming across the Inclusion team throughout the school calendar year on a part time basis. The program is for individuals up to the age of 18, who require skill development in areas supportive of successful participation in group programming. As an integral member of the interprofessional team, the Behaviour Analyst will provide trauma-informed and compassionate behaviour assessment and care plans to children, youth and families who participate in Inclusion programming at Holland Bloorview.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Builds strong rapport with clients and families to understand their values to effectively collaborate and formulate individualized goals
  • Ensures all behaviour assessment and treatment plans focus on safety, client and family dignity, and rapport building
  • Works collaboratively with Inclusion Program staff to design behaviour treatment groups utilizing inclusion programming themes (e.g., behaviour therapy group using robotics as interest topic)
  • Creates screening tools, assessments, and treatment tools to be used within the inclusion programming
  • Provides consultation and mediator coaching to inclusion staff to support successful integration in non behaviour therapy inclusion programs (e.g, respite)
  • Provides clinical oversight and training for all aspects of behaviour assessment and treatment to Behaviour Technicians and other staff implementing behaviour strategies.
  • Provides supportive, timely feedback to those implementing behaviour strategies and is available upon request for increased support.
  • Makes data driven decision to amend broad inclusion programs as well as individual treatment plans in consultation with relevant parties
  • Responsive to the changing needs of clients and families and demonstrates flexibility to adapt treatment plans and goals as necessary
  • Partners with families to provide education and coaching to implement strategies as appropriate
  • Makes appropriate referrals to other services, agencies, etc.as appropriate and available
  • Demonstrates familiarity with current literature, issues and trends of behaviour analytic practice
  • Ensures behaviour analytic programming are designed and delivered following best practices and ethics outlined by the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts
  • Familiarity with guidelines set out by the Ontario Autism Program for families wishing to utilize core clinical funding for behaviour therapeutic programs
  • Participates in regular quality improvement activities to further refine clinical practice, equitable and efficient service for clients and families
  • Shares new knowledge and best practices with colleagues, students and other professionals within the organization, professional body and community
  • Participates in quality improvement initiatives, contributes to the academic agenda, supports the maintenance of a safe and healthy work environment and advances a culture of client/patient safety through work and daily practices

Position Requirements:

  • Registered Behaviour Analyst in Ontario in good standing with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts
  • Strong knowledge and experience supporting children and youth with neurodevelopmental conditions, acquired brain injuries and/or learning or developmental differences
  • Extensive clinical experience including a minimum of two years providing behaviour analytic services to children and youth with varying abilities who engage in interfering behaviours
  • Extensive experience designing and running behaviour therapy groups and camps
  • Ability to train and clinically supervise Behaviour Technicians and other support staff with a minimum of three years’ experience doing so
  • Extensive experience providing mediator coaching to implement behaviour analytic strategies across environments
  • Demonstrated knowledge in trauma informed ABA and functional behaviour assessments and best practices in compassionate behaviour treatment
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with and communicate effectively with clients, families and members of interdisciplinary teams
  • Demonstrates flexibility and co-operation in dealing with change
  • Availability to work weekends, evenings, summer camps as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
