Share Email Opening Title 447 HR Benefits Specialist  Location Leech Lake Gaming   Description POSITION SUMMARY JOB DESCRIPTION: This position is responsible for assisting the Human Resource Benefits Manager provide benefit administration service and information to employees. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists the Benefits Manager in providing administrative service and information to employees and benefit program administrators regarding group life, health/dental benefits and pension plan. Assists with employee enrollment, communication and distribution of benefit information to the properties. Maintains files of benefits history, data, correspondence, reports and forms. Assists with the coordination of training programs and open enrollment. Answers basic benefits questions. Is responsible for knowing all events in the property as a whole. Attends and/or facilitates all mandatory meetings and training. Maintains confidentiality at all times. Is sensitive to Native American Culture. Operates within the parameters of the Leech Lake Gaming Human Resource Policy, Departmental Policy Manual and all Tribal Internal Controls (TICs), and all other applicable regulations. Secures the assets of Leech Lake Gaming and the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe. Performs other duties as assigned.   Position Requirements KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Previous experience with human resources preferred. Verbal communication skills. Excellent record keeping skills Ability to follow procedures. Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships. Ability to understand benefits policies and requirements and adhere to timelines. Ability to perform work accurately with attention to detail. Ability to be truthful and be seen as credible in the workplace. Must meet State Compact licensing requirements, pass criminal background check, and submit to random drug testing. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Frequently required to sit, occasionally required to stand and or walk for long periods Ability to lift/move up to 25 lbs Frequent exposure to moderate to loud noise levels Frequent exposure to tobacco smoke EDUCATION AND SKILLS Education Required: High School Diploma or General Education Equivalency (GED) Education Preferred: Associate’s Degree or some college Experience: Two years’ experience in a professional Human Resources office Computer Skills: Knowledge and skill in using a personal computer. Certificates & Licenses: Must meet Tribal/State compact licensing requirements, pass criminal background check and submit to drug testing.
