Category Lending  



The Lending Systems and Business Analyst (BA) is responsible for a full range of activities to ensure the operational effectiveness of all software applications used by the lending department. The BA acts as a liaison among stakeholders in order to understand the structure, policies, and operations of the lending department and recommend solutions that enable the lending department to achieve its goals. The BA will design and document workflow and make appropriate recommendations that will positively impact the operational effectiveness. He or she will track and analyze the lending trends and make appropriate recommendations that will positively impact the lending department.

The BA is a primary administrator for all lending software applications to originate and to service consumer, residential and member business loans. The BA studies and understands the functionalities of the software applications in order to deploy and to troubleshoot problems. Works closely with IT department to apply software updates, patches, and configuration changes. Assists in the Integration and Acceptance Testing, supports the development of training and implementation material, participates in the implementation, and provides post-implementation support.

The BA will also work as a Project Manager and lead a number of key projects for the lending department.



System Management

  • Understand and coordinate the require updates, patches, software releases for all lending software applications such as Mortgage Bot, E3, LaserPro, Akcelerant, DNA, Mortgage Cadence-Symphony and other applications as applicabl
  • Act as primary administrator for lending software applications.
  • Define, develop and implement quality assurance practices and procedures, end user test plans and other QA assessments.
  • Advise Lending staff and management and software vendors on technical issues.
  • Design components and write specifications to provide to the IT group for development (programming) as required.
  • Coordinate the development of business and functional specifications for lending software applications such as product configuration and business rules. 
  • Review, analyze, and create detailed documentation of all lending systems and users’ needs, including workflows, program functions, and steps required to develop or modify lending programs.
  • Communicate changes, enhancements, and modifications of business requirements to project managers, sponsors, and other stakeholders.

Business Analyst and Reporting

  • Prepare routine, adhoc. Portfolio analysis and other management reports relating to the Lending Department.
  • Analyze the lending activities and trends and compares analyses against the service standards and best practices. Present findings and work with the Lending management team and other personnel to identify and implement strategies that will address tactical and strategic goals.
  • Work closely with Lending management team and business partners to identify and maximize the use of information and technology to improve products, services and/or business processes.

Project Management

  • Work directly with appropriate lending personnel and/or SFCU personnel to understand project concept, objectives and approach.
  • Take assigned project from original concept through final implementation.
  • Define project scope and objectives.
  • Create and maintains project schedules by developing project plans and specifications, estimating time requirements, establishing deadlines, monitoring milestone completion, tracking all phases of the project product/service lifecycle, providing timely reporting of issues that impact project progress, coordinating actions, and resolving conflicts. This includes documenting, prioritizing and tracking requests (changes, enhancements, etc.) on SFCU’s internal online D-Map, “Connections”.
  • Conduct project meetings.
  • Provide single point of contact for assigned projects.
  • Work with appropriate personnel to allocate personnel time to project tasks and to track progress of their work.

Other Duties

  • Complete required annual training on Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), Security Awareness, Privacy Policy, and other trainings required for the position.
  • Promote “SFCU’s Core Values” and team building.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

This job has supervisory responsibilities which may include supervising up to two employees.


Position Requirements

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in the field of business administration, computer science, finance, or information systems; or at least four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. A qualified candidate will additionally have:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the organization’s core business process, operations, and primary software applications.
  • Proven experience with business and technical requirements analysis, elicitation, modeling, verification, and methodology development.
  • Experience overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software and hardware solutions, systems, or products.
  • Ability to create systematic and consistent requirements specifications in both technical and user-friendly language.
  • Ability to apply statistical and other research methods into systems issues and products as required.
  • Clear understanding of product management and market placement.
  • Demonstrated project management skills and project management software skills, including planning, organizing and managing resources.
  • Understanding of application development and software development life cycle concepts.
  • Excellent understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives.



Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public as required.

Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
