This position plays a key leadership role in ensuring safe, high-quality aquatic programs, staff training, and certification compliance. Pay Range: Min $23.48 Mid $25.71 Max $28.52 Duties/Responsibilities: Aquatics Operation/Leadership Support scheduling, supervision, and evaluation of lifeguards, red cross instructors, and aquatics staff. Working with the aquatics director, supervise and implement daily management of aquatics programs, including lap swimming, lessons, aquatic fitness, and special programs. Act as a deck supervisor as needed to ensure safety, policy compliance. Assist with the daily management of aquatics programs, including lap swimming, lessons, aquatic fitness and special programs When on duty, perform facility safety checks, water quality standards, and adherence to state and local regulations. Coordinate with Facilities staff and CPOs on chemical treatments, daily water testing, and maintenance. Serve as a point of contact for members regarding aquatics programming, concerns, and feedback. Create and maintain positive relationships with staff and UVAC members and guests. Red Cross Program Coordination Serve as the primary American Red Cross Coordinator for UVAC. Schedule, organize, and oversee all Red Cross courses, including Lifeguarding, CPR/AED, First Aid, Babysitting, Wilderness Survival, Safety Training for swim coaches and recertification's. Ensure all Red Cross programs are delivered in compliance with American Red Cross standards and policies. Maintain accurate certification records, course reports, and instructor credentials. Recruit, mentor, and support Red Cross instructors and instructor trainers. Develop a strong outreach program to generate new clients for Red Cross certification courses, generating revenue in support of the UVAC aquatics budget. Training & Staff Development Along with the Aquatics Director, perform onboarding and training of new aquatics staff. Coordinate in-service training, drills, and ongoing professional development. Monitor and ensure staff compliance with Paychex trainings. Supervise and develop staff in accordance with the organization's policies, mission and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, training, planning and assigning work, appraising performance, addressing and resolving issues. Promote a positive and safety-focused work culture. Administrative Support Functions Along with Aquatics Director, contribute to program planning, enrollment management, and coordination with other departments. Support budget tracking, monitor inventory and order Red Cross supplies and equipment, and communicate with Aquatics Director on equipment maintenance related to aquatics and training programs. Participate in staff meetings, planning sessions, and special events. Other duties as assigned.   Position Requirements Required Skills/Abilities: Requires a proactive, detail-oriented professional with strong technical knowledge, leadership skills, and a dedication to safety and excellence. Strong knowledge of aquatic safety, risk management, and lifeguard supervision. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills using all forms of communication. Strong swimming and rescue skills. Education and Experience: Previous experience in aquatics programming, supervision, and instruction. Familiarity with pool operations, water chemistry, and facility management. Certified Pool Operator certification or equivalent (or ability to complete within 6 months) Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification Current American Red Cross Instructor certification(s) (or ability to obtain within 6 months). American Red Cross Instructor Trainer certification, preferred. Physical and Schedule Requirements: Assume some Manager-on-Duty shifts, as assigned. A mixture of days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Ability to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings, and special events. Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Maintain physical standards for the job’s requirements.
