CMCSB is seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated, and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Human Resources Assistant. The incumbent will function as a member of an administrative team with the specific responsibility of assisting with functions of the HR Office. Work activities that are carried out as part of this position include, but are not limited to:

  1. Assist with recruitment, selection, orientation, and training of agency personnel.
  2. Assist staff of the agency by answering questions related to personnel policies, agency  processes, and fringe benefits (medical insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, etc.)
  3. Assist with employee-employer relations and resolution of personnel-related issues.
  4.  Assist in writing or revising job descriptions of all CMCSB positions and maintaining job description database.
  5. Meet with exiting employees and process paperwork related to exit, reconciling all benefits.
  6. Assist with reporting of workers compensation injuries and absences.
  7. Assist with administration of Family Medical Leave Act paperwork for illness-related absences.
  8. Assist with administration insurance-related documents.
  9. Assist with maintenance of recruitment and selection files, in order to meet EEOC regulations.
  10. Assist with orientation and training of staff, to include compiling hire packets, transfer packets, benefits packets, etc., as well as assisting with orientation and training sessions.
  11. Assist the HR Department by compiling and submitting required reports, ensuring deadlines are met.
  12. Assist with administration of HRSA site and employee certifications.
  13. Assist the HR Department with internal audits of HR documents.
  14.  Assist the HR Department in scanning documents into an electronic storage system.
  15. Other duties as assigned by the HR Director.
 
Position Requirements

Bachelor's degree in human resources/business-related field or enrollment in a bachelor's program in human resources/business-related field is preferred; a minimum of an associate's degree in a business-related field is required. Incumbent must also be qualified for and willing to pursue future education/certification in human resources. Knowledge of human resources laws and regulations, as well as applicable local, state and federal laws related to employment is preferred. Incumbent must have excellent written and oral communications skills, as well as being approachable and able to maintain an open and productive, professional relationship with all staff. Incumbent must have the ability to maintain strict confidentiality on ALL issues related to both the personnel and management of CMCSB. Incumbent must have excellent computer skills, along with the ability and initiative to work independently. Must have the ability to become a Notary in Virginia.

About the Organization CMCSB was formed in 1972 as a Chapter 10 Community Services Board under Virginia law. CMCSB provides mental health, intellectual disabilities and substance abuse treatment services to the residents of Buchanan, Russell, and Tazewell Counties. At the present time, CMCSB operates over twenty locations, to include outpatient offices, mental health recovery programs, group homes and day support programs for intellectually disabled individuals, and a residential alcohol and drug treatment program. In addition, CMCSB has several services that are provided directly in an individual's home or in a supported environment. CMCSB also provides a 24-hour crisis team to assist community agencies and individuals in crisis situations. CMCSB employs approximately 500 employees, which include full-time and part-time employees, as well as individuals receiving services who are employed to work in various day programs.
