REACH Lead Direct Support Professional -Adult CTH & ATH

General Definition of Work

Richmond Behavioral Health is seeking full-time Lead Direct Support Professionals (Adult) for both the ATH and CTH, to perform beginner to intermediate level human support work maintaining the safety of clients, monitoring clients with special needs, coordinating meal preparation and supporting clients in meal intake as needed, facilitating educational groups/activities, supporting clients in learning and using coping skills, performing and assisting clients with laundry duties, encouraging clients to adhere to treatment requirements, and related work as apparent or assigned. Provides supervision, constructive feedback, and training to the Direct Support Professional Team. Ensures adequate staffing and training of the assigned REACH Home. Ensures Home is adequately stocked with needed items/supplies/equipment. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the REACH Lead Technician.

Essential Functions

  • Performs customer service duties by meeting and greeting clients upon arrival for treatment; admits clients to the unit by taking inventory of belongings; conducts tours and orientation of unit.
  • Prepares and maintains required shift documentation.
  • Complete and document all mandated activities accurately, timely, and according to all regulatory requirements for each shift. Activities include, but are not limited to monitoring and shift logs, incident reports, medication administration, monthly drills, admission and discharge documentation/meetings, treatment team meetings, daily behavioral data documentation, etc.
  • Coordinates discharges in full consultation with the Clinical team.
  • Ensures house is adequately stocked with nutritional food according to the menus, medical and cleaning supplies, needed equipment, etc.
  • Models for REACH DSPs team clinical service delivery and professionalism.
  • Monitors DSP staff performance by providing regular supervision, constructive feedback, and coaching / disciplinary actions as needed, and bi-annual performance evaluations.
  • Facilitates and leads educational and recreational group activities; engages clients positively.
  • Administer and document medications in accordance with all regulatory bodies.
  • Monitors and assists clients with activities of daily living - showering, toileting, self-care, laundry, etc.
  • Participates in the on-call rotation to include providing crisis support/coverage to the REACH CTH or Transition Home and/or working shifts as needed.
  • Performs laundry duties for unit and client laundry; assists clients as needed; prepare and serve meals following a provided menu.
  • Maintains the safety and cleanliness of the unit and programming areas.
  • Assist in transporting clients to and from appointments.
  • Ensures required trainings are current and completed in a timely manner.
  • On an as needed basis, may be required to pick up additional shifts outside of normal hours
  • Performs other related work duties as assigned.
 
Position Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

General knowledge of community and Authority resources, programs, and of regional and State resources for the community service population; knowledge of Licensing, Human Rights, and HIPAA regulations and requirements; general knowledge of social casework techniques; some knowledge of human development and behavior; ability to solve problems within scope of responsibility; ability to analyze facts and exercise sound judgment in arriving at conclusions; ability to communicate ideas effectively, orally and in writing; ability to prepare clear and concise reports; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with medical personnel, law enforcement, clients, associates and the general public.

Education and Experience

This position requires a minimum of a High School Diploma and equivalent, with at least one (1) year of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and co-occurring mental health or behavioral challenges. CTH / ATH experience preferred.

Special Requirements

Valid driver's license in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

CPR/First Aid/AED, Safety Care, QDDP, and Person-Centered certifications.

Medication Administration and Gastrostomy Tube Certifications, for full-time DSPs

Starting Salary Range Negotiable depending on qualifications.
