Essential Job Functions: Answer incoming calls. Triage phone calls and determine if urgent, give call to physician or nurse immediately. Handle all calls with confidence, compassion and efficiency. Make appointments for new and existing patients. Collect and verify patient demographic information and insurance information. Review and maintain provider's schedules to ensure productivity and that appointments are scheduled appropriately. Verify insurance with the billing department. Prepare patients' charts. Call outside offices to obtain medical records. Superior level of secretarial and organizational skills. Understanding of various insurance plans and the need for authorization/referral. Computer and EMR experience. Team player and the ability to multitask.
